Aside from her perfect hair, kindness was something Chloe wanted to be known for.Sure, it was difficult to remain in a cool headspace when one is surrounded by 'ignorant' classmates who, at times, were completely and utterly ridulculous but Chloé did make an effort.
Sometimes, it felt like nobody saw that. Chloé wasn't stupid. She knew others saw her as a nuisance and spoiled and a brat. She's seen the way others immediately look disappointed whenever she walks into a room or how others prepare themselves for whatever rude or annoying thing she had to say.
Chloé would never say it but she was really glad to have Sabrina and Y/N. Despite her many, many faults, Sabrina had always stayed by her side. Y/N was new to the group but Chloé secretly admired her for not being warded off by Chloe's attitude.
Not only did Y/N remain resilient in the face of Chloe's attitude and occasional tantrum, but she went the extra mile and really listened to Chloé. It was then that Chloe' had a kind of revelation.
All she wanted was to be heard. Ever since her mother left Chloé and her father, Chloé clamored and craved attention from anybody that was willing to give it to her. It was only when Y/N offered to listen to whatever strife Chloé had gone through earlier in the day that Chloé realized she had finally been listened to after the longest time.
That day, after school, Chloé invited Y/N to hang out at her dad's hotel. She didn't ask Sabrina to come over because it would only be between Chloé and Y/N. When all Chloé said was that she needed to talk to her, Y/N understood.
When they got to Chloé's suite, Y/N knew something was up. "Everything okay, Chloé? You haven't been yourself today." Y/N had taken a seat on Chloe's chaise lounge sofa while the blonde herself paced back and forth in front of her. How would she go about asking Y/N? Probably the same way she did anything.
Bluntly.
"Why are you being so nice to me, L/N?" There, she asked. As previously mentioned, Chloé wasn't stupid. She knew what others thought about her, so it was natural for Chloé to be suspicious whenever someone was being kind. She didn't suspect someone like Sabrina because the fact that she was Sabrina's only friend was enough to keep her around. However, Y/N's resilience was a mystery to Chloé.
"So?"
Y/N was confused. "I mean, I like you. If I'm not too assuming, I'd like to be your friend." Her answer puzzled Chloé as it came out as more of a question. "You haven't given me a reason to dislike you and you always include me in things." Y/N shrugged. "Why?"
Chloé stood there, emotionless and quiet. "Really? You like me?" It was weird because Chloé knew there people who tolerated her or straight up disliked her but Y/N actually liked her. "I like you too."
Yes, it was true- Chloé invited Y/N to things but it was subconsciously. It was never because Chloé went out of her way to do so. She just did it because she liked Y/N's company and having someone not hang over her like Sabrina or her dad. "Hm..." At that point, Chloé had taken a seat next to Y/N. "Well, Y/N, I accept. I'll be your friend from now on."
