Ah, the good old fear. Adrenaline pulsed through my muscles, sore from lazy lack of use, as I went to Hunter's door. Somehow, though my room was closest to hers, Dahvie and Aussie were already there. I must've gotten slower... It didn't surprise me, I've barely moved.
Dahvie's POV
"Aussie trust me."
"I trust you Dahvie, but I also know that Jayy's...Well he's still upset about Hunter. He wants her back. And that's just not fair to her. For God's sake, she nearly died!"
We were walking to our rooms after "watching" a movie downstairs, really just continuing the conversation we'd had the whole time Sweeney was avenging his wife and Lovett was cooking the evidence.
"Aussie, he's not an ass, he wouldn't make a move on her now."
"No, but he 'wants' to. And whether or not he waits, it's still unfair to her that he's harboring this, hiding it from her while she tries to handle a murderous step-bitch and, in case you forgot, grieving her dead brother!"
"Shh, Aus, 'jeez'. Yeah, I know it's tough on her and we need to be sensitive, but she did also just up and leave on him. I don't think he'd be too 'wrong' if he questioned her about it, if he timed it right, not wrong at all. And anyway, how else do you propose she avoids the step-bitch if we don't keep our eyes on her."
"I'm not arguing with that Dahvie, we need to watch her somehow, but send someone else, our 'bodyguard' maybe, to protect her instead of pushing her towards Jayy."
"I'm not pushing anyone anywhere. Jayy's strong, and besides that, he's out for vengeance with Ronnie, and heads will roll if she goes anywhere 'near' Hunter."
"You and I both know that that is 'not' the reason Dahvie. Don't lie to me."
"It is too-" A scream interrupted us from behind--Hunter's room. "Fuck."
Aus ran there and I followed quickly. Jayy was right there a second later. I flashed Aussie a begging glance and he sighed. "Fine," he relented calmly. Even he understood that calming her down was Jayy's domain.
"Thank you. Jayy, g'head. She'll listen to you. We'll be right here if you need us, if she, well..."
Jayy's POV
I didn't know what the defeated "fine" out of Aussie was, but I didn't even give myself a second to consider it. The second Dahvie finished talking I gave a quick nod and went right in.
"Hunter, what happened?"
She was shaking, curled up in a ball.
"Hunter?" I repeated gently. I laid behind her, resting my arm around her. "Will you flip over for me?" She swallowed, but did so. She looked up, terrified, and clung to me. "Hey, hey... It's alright. I'm right here. It's okay." I rubbed Hunter's back gently, brushing my lips against her forehead. "Bad dream?" I guessed nervously. Her dreams had once before predicted the future, all at the loss of a fantasy element.
"R-Ronnie. She came and... took me when I was here..."
"But in a dream right?" I almost begged, fear no doubt clouding my eyes.
"Y-...Yeah." She had to think about that, which pretty much answered my next question.
"No fantasy?"
"N-No," she said, seeming as scared and knowing as I was.
"Want me to stay then?"
Hunter nodded. "Don't leave me alone," she begged.
"Never," I promised sincerely.
