Hunter's POV
Jayy, true to his word, drove me to work every day after that night. He didn't speak a word to me, not even pretending it was just because he was tired. If I said anything to him, I was ignored, no matter what it was. I was really beginning to think he hated me.
I did what I could to get through it and, after two mornings of repeated attempts to get a syllable of response, I gave up. Wednesday through Friday were dead silent on both of our parts and Jayy was silent after I came home, not only not talking 'to' me, but stopping conversations until I was out of the room. On top of that, I never once saw him smile.
By Thursday, I was completely defeated. On top of everything, for the past couple weeks, a coworker of mine had been coming onto me. He was cute, sexy even, but I'd been holding so tightly to hiding from Ronnie and the last week worrying about me and Jayy.
Not that Jayy even 'wanted' any me and Jayy anymore. He was completely over me, and I knew it was my fault.
The guy's name was Jason, and, as I only got to see on break and on the way out, he had three cartilage smooth segment piercings in both ears, two more snake-bite segment rings, plus a stud each earlobe. He had medium length hair that flopped back and to to the left, partially covering the shaved hair on that side and revealing it on the other one. It was jet black and faded to a dark blue at the tips. Or his "grown-out reminder of a failed attempt at a Mohawk that's always there to mock me" as he lovingly referred to it.
He seemed very intelligent and even more sweet, always trying to make me laugh and smile, especially when I first came in and just before I left, when I was stressing out most about Jayy. He never tried too hard though, it just seemed in his nature to make people happy, which I found adorable, and he always seemed to know when it was okay and when to stop.
In short, he was a great guy and one I knew I could trust. He knew about who I was, what had happened with Ronnie, my living situation, and both of my addresses just in case. He was on the swear of death if he told, which he both brought up and insisted upon to make me feel safer telling him. Admittedly, I had a pretty big crush on him. The only real problem with Jason was that he hated his real name and went, almost exclusively, by J, pronounced, you guessed it, Jay. Even with the change in spelling, it was certainly close enough to hurt.
On Friday, Jason finally asked me out, a movie "either tonight or the next or whatever", a moment I had dreaded. But, feeling assured Jayy's feelings for me had long since rotted away, and that J's weren't, I said yes.
His eyes lit up and I chuckled at him. "What?"
"You look like a kid on Christmas, what is it?"
He got this adorably bashful look in his eyes and tilted his head down, using his teeth to play with one bite (which is likely how snake bites will be referred to from now on in the book). He looked back up to meet my eyes as a smirk crept onto his lips, his pupils almost level with his eyelashes. Letting go of the bite, he switched to his normal lobe piercing. "I thought you'd say no, what with that guy dropping you off every day..."
"You were this sure I'd say no to you and you still asked? Masochistic much?"
"Very, but not half as much as you. And, if there was even a fraction of a percent chance, I had to try."
I smiled at him. "You are the cutest thing."
"I'm not cute."
"That makes you cuter, and you are when you're not busy being sexy."
The smirk returned and he pulled me into his arms. They were strong, despite his lanky appearance, and I felt safe there, as I'd learned from previous hugs. J was a very cuddly person. He kissed my cheek, yet another frequent occurrence, and ran a hand through his hair. "Holy shut-the-front-door-so-I-can-swear you said yes!"
I laughed at him, a girlish giggle that I hated, half for it's girlyness and half because it only showed up in front of crushes. "So which night is better for you? I'd be free for either, so it's up to you."
"Tonight then?"
"Kay," I said, unable to stop smiling.
"Kay." Jayy honked from outside, our sign that he was there.
"See you tonight then?"
"Yeah, say seven thirty?"
"Seven thirty," I said.
He rolled his eyes playfully. "Hilarious. But how's that?"
"Great."
"Alright. I'll pick you up then."
"Kay J."
I got in the car and let my smile drop so Jayy wouldn't wonder, though I'm not sure why, he'd find out tonight anyway.
And boy did he.
I got ready, spending an abnormal amount of time on my outfit and makeup, before I finally decided I looked good, but not enough to get teased by J or questioned by the guys until J got here, this way the interview could come afterwards, when I was both better prepared to answer the questions because I'd have a good idea if there would be a second date, and in a better mood from spending the night with J.
I chose a black jean jacket with a red top underneath that had a black "bleeding" heart on it, near-black skinnyjeans, a studded black belt, and combat boots. (Outfit above/to the side - correct except top & no weird thing attached to belt; exact top on left w/red BG instead of white)
I went into the living room at around six thirty and watched TV with the guys until I heard the doorbell. "It's for me," I said, earning a confused look from Dahvie and Aussie. Jayy looked down, away from me, but I saw his eyes flash up a second too soon, just as I got up. "Oh don't look at me like that you two." I shook my head at them. "I'll answer it." I walked over and opened the door, smiling almost immediately at the awkward, nervous look on J's face.
He sighed. "Oh thank God, it's you. I know you live with a few guys and I was worried."
"Nah, you could take him."
"The one that picks you up could kill me."
"That I could," Jayy said warningly through clenched teeth. He stood up and walked over, purposely towering over J and tensing so his muscles looked bigger in the muscle shirt he was wearing. J's eyes widened as he made himself look shorter and smaller. He wasn't a threatening guy.
Both J and Jayy flashed their eyes to mine. "Who's he?" Jayy growled, his teeth still grinding together in anger.
