Dahvie hung up and gave me a broken look. "Don't ask," he whispered through his raspy voice.
"I have to! You called Ronnie?!"
"She called me... And I can't say anything Jayy. She made me promise."
"Who the fuck cares what you promised her, she's a fucking bitch! There's no need for morals with her Dahv."
"I know, I know. But she's gonna kill Hunter Jayy. The only way I can save her is to do what Ronnie says, and that's part of it. Only I can know anything besides the fact that I'm getting her back for us. If I'm followed or in any way fuck up, Hunter's dead." He looked guilty as hell.
"Just tell me, how can she know?"
"Do you really want to risk it?"
I looked down, trying to blink away the tears that were forming as my initial anger subsided. "No..."
"Then please, let me do this."
"Okay Dahvie, but..." I shook my head. "Doesn't matter."
He sighed. "The fans."
"Yeah."
"I don't know Jayy... If I do this, we may lose a lot, we may lose all of it. One delayed and then cancelled tour is enough, especially without too much reason, delaying and possibly canceling a second is worse, but not being able to tell them 'why' we can't tour means they're gonna need more faith in us then we've ever asked of them. I don't know that we'll keep the band through this."
My head dropped down in my hands. "Oh no..."
"Yeah... We're quite possibly screwed. But how can I say no?"
"You don't Dahvie. Please, I need her to live, she doesn't deserve this."
"Exactly."
"There's no question of what we need to do," Aussie said as he walked up behind me. "It's just a matter of how we deal with the consequences. We're really pushing the fans here, I wouldn't be shocked to find out they couldn't, or 'wouldn't', handle it."
"So what can we say?" I asked Aus.
"As much as possible within Ronnie's rules. Make it clear it's a matter of life and death, don't even say who's. Let them know that we need to do this, that it's important, and hope they can do without exactly 'why'."
Dahvie nodded. He pulled out his phone and we went over a Facebook post that we also sent as a group email to anyone who'd bought tickets. We linked to it from twitter and on the website where we sold tickets too.
Guys, we all feel horrible, but I need to delay the tour. I really hope it won't need to be cancelled, and I can't say exactly why, but this is literal life and death. We'll refund any tickets sold until the actual tour starts, just forward me the email with your tickets and we can work it out from there.
Again, I'm so sorry, but I need to do something vitally important and it can't be done during a tour. We're all terrified and stressed right now, but I hope you'll understand. If I can think of any more details that I'm allowed to give you , I'll post them. Thanks guys.
"I'll get calling everyone to sort out the delay," Dahvie said.
I nodded. "Guess the fans are just gonna have to trust us this time."
"Yeah. Guess so," Aussie said.
