MONDAY rolled around too quickly. I was already praying for the weekend when I woke up and forced myself to get out of bed and get dressed for class. I think the only thing motivating me in the slightest bit was knowing that Matteo was downstairs with coffee and I would get to see Ava in class, as well.

Other than that, it was so fucking tempting to just lay back down and sleep for the rest of the day. I could catch up on schoolwork whenever and attendance wasn't mandatory. What was the point in going if I could just sleep instead and wake up again at 1 in the afternoon? Then, I would be charged up and less dead inside for tonight.

My parents and my brother were coming up to Syracuse for dinner tonight.

I advised them against the trip, but they were insistent on seeing me. They were almost always insistent on seeing me. Or, as my mom liked to put it, she was insistent on "getting as much time with my handsome and wonderful and favorite sun."

Maybe I added the "favorite" part, but it was also kind of the truth even though she never explicitly said so.

I made my way downstairs and found Matteo sitting at the counter cheerily sipping coffee through his usual to-go mug. When he saw me, he sprung up from his seat and grinned. He handed me my own to-go mug.

"It's a lovely morning, Teddy. Fucking godspeed," Matteo said, holding his fist up.

I bumped his fist and repeated the word as Matteo headed for the front door. We got outside and started the walk to class and I, for one, was incredibly confused.

"What's gotten into your pants today? Why are you all happy-go-lucky? And more than usual," I said.

"I am happy because it is a happy day," Matteo said. "Can't a man be happy?"

"Not without an explanation."

He rolled his eyes. "I am happy because I have had a blessed morning. Mav made omelets again and I swear, they were better than ever before. He's a god. He really is. And then, I got a text from William Cunningham. I think he's the best texter."

Matteo whipped out his phone and handed it to me so I could read the texts:

WILL: when should we meet for this shitty statistics thing?

MATTEO: you did NOT just call statistics SHITTY. get yo head out of the gutter, william

WILL: just will

MATTEO: will(iam)

WILL: stop i already hate you and i just met you

MATTEO: i'll make you love me

WILL: bet, it won't happen so long as you're forcing me to calculate stupid ass statistics equations

MATTEO: i'll make it fun remember? theatre and statistics all at once. i'll even throw in some ariana grande
