SATURDAY felt like a fever dream when it came time to leave and meet Theo at the frat house.

We were going to the city once again, though instead of heading into the heart of the city to my family's suite, we were going to Theo's family's home on the edge of the city.

It didn't help that he told me the party was a formal attire. I tried to take it back and say I wasn't coming after all, mostly because I didn't want to dress up and I was nervous to look stupid in something formal in front of Theo when all I normally wore was incredibly casual. But Theo had persuaded me, of course, which is how I ended up dressed up. I was wearing a dress my mother had bought for me for formal sorority events (that I never planned on actually wearing, mind you): a black dress that tied around my neck and was off-the-shoulder with white pearls that sat on my upper arms. It was actually pretty. I just wasn't used to dressing up, but I had my hair tucked into a low bun with a few braids leading into it and Skylar forced me to wear her pearl earrings that she never wore.

I grabbed my set of keys, tucking them in my pockets (thank goodness for dresses with pockets) as I left the bedroom. Skylar was out in the kitchen and Maverick, still in our apartment since the text incident, was sitting on the living room sofa watching Gossip Girl yet again.

I walked into the kitchen and leaned against the counter.

"Off to see your dear Romeo?" Skylar teased.

"I forget how funny you are sometimes, Sky," I said sarcastically. "But yeah, I'm heading out."

"And when will you be back, young lady?" Skylar asked. "Have we set ourselves a curfew to get away from the provocative Theodore Montgomery?"

I rolled my eyes. "Stop. He's not... provocative," I said, though it was totally a lie. I nodded towards the living room and kept my voice low. "Has he been any better?"

Skylar tilted her hand. "So-so," she said. "He's more himself, but I think the more his mind wanders to Matteo, the more he freaks himself out."

"Has he said how he feels?"

Skylar shook her head. "He's confused. He didn't know Matteo felt that way at all. So I don't know. Only time will tell."

I sighed. "Well, I hope he's okay. And if you need anything—"

"I will not call you because I'm not a cock block," Skylar said with a grin, then grabbed my shoulders and spun me around, shoving me towards the front door. "Get out!"

"There's no cock blocking anything, we're just friends!" I yelled as I was shoved out the door.

Through the crack of the door, Skylar smiled wickedly. "Yeah, yeah. Friends, schmends. Go enjoy your Theodore the Third time. You look hot, by the way."
