WAKING up was the death of me

WAKING up was the death of me. It was Wednesday and I didn't have class until later in the afternoon, but I woke up regardless at 8 in the morning. Skylar wasn't in her bed so I stood up and tiredly threw a sweatshirt on before leaving the room. I walked down the hallway and made my way into the kitchen and found Skylar sitting in the living space again on the sofa. She looked up at me as I entered and raised a questioning brow.

"So?" she said. "How was your night with Theo the Third?"

I kept a straight face because I knew the bet she had made me last night. If I had fun with Theo...

"What do you want for breakfast?" I asked.

Skylar smirked and I made my way into the kitchen. "Omelet please!"

I shot her a look. "What makes you think I know how to make an omelet?"

Skylar stood up and then sat down at the counter. "Just make me something with eggs, then. Jesus. Why can nobody besides Maverick make an omelet?"

I opened the fridge and pulled out eggs, peppers, tomatoes, and some cheese to try and make an omelet. I'd only ever made omelets a few times in my life, and honestly, Will was better at them than I was. Will was the king of breakfast foods whereas I was the queen of all other foods and desserts, especially. But I could try and make an omelet.

"So you had fun with him then, I guess," Skylar said.

"It was fun, yes," I admitted.

"And where did the 2 of you go exactly?" Skylar asked while I cracked 2 eggs into a mixing bowl. "Let me guess. He took you on his motorcycle to Orbis Lounge."

I stopped cracking the second egg mid-crack and part of the shell fell into the bowl. I scooped it out and then looked at Skylar with my eyebrows raised. "So it is one of his moves, isn't it?" I shook my head and scoffed. I knew that Theo seemed like the kind of guy to have a playbook and this was just proving my theory correct.

"I said no to the motorcycle," I told her. "But I kind of assumed the rest was a play of his."

"He's taken a lot of girls to Orbis, Ava. And then the pier afterward?"

I nodded and Skylar rolled her eyes. I made sure the rest of the eggshell was out of the bowl and started to whisk.

"Typical Theo," Skylar muttered. "Did he make a move?"

"He told me he wouldn't and so he didn't. I mean, he might have wanted to, but I wasn't going to let it happen," I said.

Skylar opened her mouth to say something but was interrupted by the sound of the front door to the apartment opening. I furrowed my eyebrows, but Skylar didn't look confused in the least bit. She rolled her eyes again and that's when we heard:
