It Was An Accident
I scream at the top of my lungs,
"we've seen death!"
What didn't you understand?
We had fallen witness.
It all came crashing down beside my Nike's as you bent down to tie your Converse.
You weren't looking."we watched it, and we did nothing!"
You don't answer.
What don't you understand? We saw it happen and we didn't flinch at the consequences.
The dust rose in our lungs and tugged at our heartstrings.
The scene in front of us unfolding into a nightmarish dream. You hear me yelling,
"what the fuck!"
What don't you understand?
How do I make you understand? We weren't prepared for this.
We saw it coming and we ignored it.
Our ignorance became our reality and we convinced ourselves of it.I'm crying now, saying again and again,
"you let this happen."
I look up from my despair and gaze upon the reminisce of our love.
Laying on the ground, covered in ash and rubble.
It's dead in front of us, how could we have not known?
It's gone, and we did nothing to save it.
To absorbed in ourselves to try...There was no sadder day
than the day we witnessed
The Death
Of Our Love.
