Poem 39: evermore

evermore

there are so many beautiful people,

that i've loved.

even when the flame burnt out
and the smoke rose too high to catch,
the love
i gave to you
remains.

like a photographed moment,
my love demands
to be remembered
in the way
in which
it was.

even if it is to be
forgotten,
it exists in a way that is both
unfathomable and
untouchable to the one who
tries to
ignore it.

my love cannot be buried underneath the sand
of the
ocean floor,

it cannot be found
running with the water
under
the bridge,

for my love does not deserve
such neglect,
to be forgotten

no,

my love deserves to be remembered
in the everlasting moments
that will stay within
our minds,
the moments
we held so close to
our straining chests
and
open hearts,

the moments we will remember because when
you are
alone,
everyone is but a memory,

but i promise,
that the love we shared
cannot die,

because in the moment
we felt it,
it will live on,

we cannot change that moment
so therefore
we cannot say
that
we do not love
any longer
because we

always
will.
