Deceptive Thoughts

"Felt the sunshine
in the air,

When all of you,
was too much to bear...
And now we're here all
over again.

If I only
gave you a chance,

It only ended with
one last dance.
And now we're here all
over again."

That was the song playing as you ran up a snow-covered hill, laughing as I chased after you.

"Remember how we used to be? Completely in love,"

you said,

"I was so stupid. It ended when I looked at you in a moment, in one last dance, and then it was gone."

I listened to you.

When we got to the top of the hill, you smiled and continued.
"Let's just be how we used to--for just a second. Hug me like you did when you loved me--act how you did when you loved me, just for now."

So I did.

I hugged you closer than I had in a while and buried my face in your hair. You tried your arms around my waist--then remembered that they were always around my neck. We stood there for a bit--embracing, before laughing.

And then you held my hand and we slid down the hill together; when we landed we were both on our backs and you kissed me while this song was playing.

The song was in your perspective, like I finally got an insight on what your mind was telling you in the moment your love disappeared.

And then I woke up--sweating.

I don't know what it means, and I'm wondering if you've ever dreamt of me like that.
