~Third person pov~

6:00 am every morning Y/N was to wake up and clean. Mundane it was but she did as she was told she knew what would happen otherwise. Her cousin, on the other hand, had become close to the King's advisor Samuel Seabury, in fact, Ella was now Samuel's maid, this meant her job had doubled and Ella's halved.

Y/N felt slightly jealous that her cousin got to spend time with Samuel but he probably wanted her over Y/N. Y/N instead cleaned the King's room and the throne room alone. While Ella had to clean a small study and Samuel's chamber. In other words, Y/N had more work to do with less the help than before.

Today was different though. She had only been at the palace for a week and King George already gave Y/N and Ella a day off. They both thought it was strange, but didn't question the much undeserved break, so the trio decided to go with Samuel to the markets.

It was a busy day in Windsor markets as people from every stall were trying to convince people to buy their stuff. Ella, Sam, Y/N and one of the guards Ben, on the other hand, were looking for something fun. As they walked around, Ella was extremely close to Samuel, almost to close for Y/N. They both talked and laughed and seemed to leave her out. Ben of course was watching, trying to chime into their conversation. It was obvious he liked her, but it was also obvious that she didn't share his feelings.

Y/N knew this from the few seconds she looked over at them. Everytime Ella was blushing like a tomato, it was as she expected. Ella liked him. Y/N realised she should leave them alone and she made a silly excuse to go about having to clean something in George's. Ella marvelled at the fact you were leaving so soon but smirked. "I see." She winked. Y/N scoffed and rolled her eyes. Ella then hugged her and Y/N made her way steadily back to the palace.

~Y/N's pov~

When I got back into the palace I decided to go back to my room. I couldn't afford to spy yet, I wasn't sure the King completely trusted me yet. Of course I didn't actually have to clean George's room, I just waned some peace and quiet to draw, it was something haven't done in a while.

I walked up the stairs, past the ornate paintings and made my way to my room. As I was climbing the furnished staircase realised that I didn't know where I was going. My stomach dropped slightly and I awkwardly stumbled around the palace trying to find the room. I walked down corridors and upstairs, through rooms and even downstairs, but I still couldn't find my room.

My heart began pounding, I had always feared being lost somewhere especially alone in a foreign area. I had to stop in the middle of the hall just to stop myself from passing out. I decided to take deep breaths, each one to calm me down so I could continue. But before I could I felt a tap on my right shoulder.

I quickly turned around in fear to be greeted with icy blue eyes that belonged to the King. I bowed quickly in pure fear and stuttered slightly, "S-Sorry your Majesty." He chuckled and tapped my shoulder again. "Ahh, no need to apologise, were you lost?" He whispered gasping my cheek. I nodded my head awkwardly in response causing George to smile and pull my arm holding tightly in his hand, "Come on I'll show you the way."

I nervously obliged and followed him up a few halls and down a few stairs, while we travelled to my room George kept touching my shoulder and moving his face uncomfortably close to mine. I of course had to go with it if I had any chance in making it out alive.

We continued down a small yet familiar hall and arrived towards my door. George grinned and I stood in front of him, "Here we are!" he smiled cheerfully, I looked at him trying not to seem awkward and forced a smile , "I am humbled your Majesty that you would help me in that way and I pr-" I got cut off by the King placing a finger on my lips.

"You don't need to be too formal, you can just say thanks." I looked back at him. And bowed again. "Thanks, your Majesty." he smiled and moved his face towards mine, just a few centimetres in fact. I panicked slightly and my eyes fluttered frantically around the hall. George smirked and quickly moved away holding out a coin in his hand. "Did you like that trick?" He grinned. I nodded awkwardly and he put the coin in my pocket. He then patted my shoulder and smiled, "See you tomorrow then love." He grinned. I nodded and he walked away and down the hall.

I quickly dashed into my room and was greeted with the sight of Ella and Samuel "There you are Y/N," Ella exclaimed as I walked in. "You said you were going back here to clean for the King and yet your later than us." I sat down on my bed and looked at my cousin, "I got carried away cleaning George's room and forgot the time."

Ella laughed and jumped on her bed to be closer. "I wonder what you two were doing, is my intuition right? Are you lovers with the King? " Ella interrogated me as she awkwardly moved closer, "W-What!? Do you think I'd give myself up to the King like that? I have dignity you know." Ella then started bursting out in laughter, "Someone's defensive, what's wrong with being a mistress, I heard they get paid well, especially if they accidentally get pregnant." You jumped at your cousin and closed her mouth, "Sh-shut up, I would never do such a thing."

Ella laughed even harder, "Hey Sammy, Y/N is sneaking off with the King and having s-." I held my hand to Ella's mouth and shut her up. Samuel chuckled a bit causing Ella wrapped arms around me and Samuel as she brought us closer, "Ha, I thought being a maid was boring, turns out there's more drama than I expected." Ella kept laughing and rolling around on Samuel's bed. Samuel scoffed playfully and picked her up and put her on her own bed. "I wouldn't be too cheerful guys, it's rare that George is ever like that. He may be planning something."

Ella stopped laughing and sat up, "King or not if that man hurts you or Y/N he'll be sorry." Ella threateningly spoke. Samuel laughed, "No offence El, but I highly doubt you'd beat George." You looked at Samuel, "Sure she can't, but me I'd only need a letter opener to end someone." Samuel and Ella laughed. "Wow Y/N you sound like your going to murder the King, is this some sort of fetish of yours." Samuel laughed even more. I looked at him and blushed, I looked into his brown eyes and almost got locked to them until an abrupt voice came from out the door. We all turned our head in shock to see the King standing angrily.

"Could you three please be quiet. I'm so close to beheading all three of you!" The three of us gulped and bowed in apology. The King looked down at us and pointed at me and smiled, "Y/N be early tomorrow morning, I need my room cleaned as you missed today. I'll leave open the door for you." I nodded as he grinned and the King walked away shutting the door behind him. I looked at Ella and Samuel who were equally shocked. We snickered slightly and continued laughing.

A break wasn't to bad after all.
