~Y/N's pov~
It was the middle of the night when I woke up. This was part of my plan. Wake up at night and steal the key from Samuel.
I got out of my bed and slowly crept up to his bed. Each step I took on the cold ground was numbing, but I persisted.
Samuel was laying on his bed with the key in his pocket. I slowly inched towards him trying to subtly grasp the key.
He then turned making him face away from me. Shit. I then shuffled to the other side of his bed. I slowly put my hand and grabbed the key sliding it into my pocket.
I then slowly walked to the chest where the plans were. Although the Americans didn't use the plans in full truth they still took the plans as help. I stuck the key into the lock and turned it slowly trying to not make a sudden noise.
Click. The lock clicked and became loose. I then opened the lock and lifted the chest. Inside was a single scroll of paper. I quickly grabbed it and stuffed it in my drawer beside me.
I shut the chest lid slowly and walked to my bed. I saw the painting I made for Ella's birthday tomorrow, sticking out from under my bed. I pushed it with my feet and layed gently on my bed. Now that was done I could finally get some sleep.
~In the morning~
"Y/N wake up!!! It's my birthday!!!!" my eyes opened to see my now 20-year-old cousin screaming in my face. I pushed her away and sat up, "Geez calm down your only 20." Ella stared at me intently. "Only 20? Y/N I'm already so old!!!! WE BOTH NEED TO FIND A BOYFRIEND!!"
I looked at tiredly, "Ella, you can find a boyfriend later right now you need to celebrate the fact that your 20." I turned around and ducked under my bed to get her the painting, "Happy Birthday El."
She unwrapped the brown paper and saw the painting of a field of wheat with her standing in the middle. "Oh my goodness this is incredible Y/N." I smiled, "It's for my incredible cousin so it had to be nice." Ella smiled and hugged me, "Thank you so much."
"Well, then we better get to work." I smiled teasingly, "Oh yeah!" Ella giggled. I got out of my bed and got dressed. I saw that Samuel was for some reason still asleep. So I carefully crept out the door. Time to clean. Hurray!
~Samuel's pov~
As soon as I heard the door shut I sprang up. I rushed to Y/N's drawer to find the decoy. I didn't want to believe it, but Y/N and Ella were traitors. And if George had his way, they'd lose their heads.
Even though I felt guilty I had to serve my King. I quickly got dressed and went to His Majesty.
I knocked on his door. "Who is it?" I swallowed my fear, "S-Samuel, Your Majesty." I heard him sigh, "Yes what is it. I opened the door to see he was by himself writing something.
"Your Majesty this may be distressing but I'm afraid Y/N and Ella are indeed traitors." The King turned around in his chair. "So they took the plans then." I nodded, "But it was only Y/N who did it." I know it was bad too but the blame only on her, but if any one of them had a chance at surviving one of them will have to take the blame.
"Y/N? Well then my suspicion was correct, I would execute her but..." I stared at him, he was letting her live? "You're letting her live sir? Even though she's a traitor!" I was honestly relieved, I didn't want anyone to die because of me. "Samuel I want you to pretend to be a traitor as well. Feed her false information, if she does have contacts with America we can easily trick them." I bowed and he dismissed me. Even though this is a great plan, it doesn't seem like him. I have a feeling George wants to keep her around for other reasons.
~Third person's pov~
When you finally finished cleaning you headed back to your room to give the plans to Charles. You walked in and grabbed the pieces of paper from the drawer. You walked up to the window and waited for Charles.
You then heard footsteps, "Y/N?" you turned to see Samuel. "Oh, what's wrong Samuel." He looked behind you, "What's that?" Your eyes widened, "Um just a letter for my parents." Samuel snatched it from your hands and read it.
"You're a rebel too?" You looked at him shocked, so he really was a revolutionist. "Wait, Samuel, you're a revolutionist?" he smiled, "Yes I am, in fact, I'm also leaking battle plans." you couldn't believe it, "In fact, I'm going to America tomorrow to report to General Washington himself." you shot up, "You mean you're going to meet George Washington!"
"Shhh. Keep it down. But yes I am, but to keep my cover I'm going to preach about the King and stuff." You then heard a tap on the window, it was Charles, "Charles there you are." you opened the window and let Charles in, "This is Charles my messaging pigeon." Samuel looked shocked, "Did he fly all the way from America?" you chuckled, "He only flies to my father. He is the one who sends the letter to America." Samuel smiled, "Well we better put these plans onto him then." you then attached the scroll onto Charles and let him go. Charles flew and soon he disappeared. "Samuel, I hope you'll be safe in America." h,e smiled, "I'll be okay."
"Does Ella know you're leaving tomorrow?" Samuel turned his head out the window which was now dark. "Yeah, I told her yesterday. She was so sad that she doesn't even want to see me. That's why she isn't here yet." I smiled sadly, "It's ok, she'll get over it. I promise we'll write to you." Samuel smiled and went to his bed, "Good night." I looked at him and stared out the window.
"Goodnight Sam."
