~Y/N's pov~
Today was a very quiet day. Which gave me an unsettling feeling. The castle was empty except for the hall which was being prepared for the ball.
I slowly tapped my fingers against the wooden desk. Blah, Blah taxes. It was boring, just sorting papers. Only when I stumble across some battle plans did things start to feel productive.
I picked up a piece of parchment. It was a map of the colonies with marks of blue and red everywhere. "Predictable," I muttered to myself. I had memorised most types of formations by now. "A row." I scribbled down on a piece of notepaper and traced the plan using the light from the window.
Knock!
I heard a knock at the door and quickly stuffed the pieces of parchment into my messenger bag.
I walked to the door and opened it. It was the king, I quickly bowed my head in respect not wanting to upset the brat.
"Ah, Y/N there you are. I was looking for you." I became nervous. "What for sir?"
The king placed a hand on my shoulder. "Well, I was inviting you and your Cousin to the ball tonight. I would like to discuss a few things afterwards." You froze staring down at his polished shoes.
"I'm sorry your majesty but I will have to decline your polite request, you see I have many matters to attend to so it would be neglectful of me." My hand jittered in fear.
The King turned his head in confusion, "What do you mean Y/N. By my records, you're already finished your week's work." His blue eyes stared into my soul.
I awkwardly smiled, what excuse will I have now. I bowed my head, "Well then your majesty I will be delighted to attend this evenings Ball." I hesitantly obliged.
"Well then Y/N, see you tonight." The King waved me goodbye almost dropping something in his hand and closed the door.
I returned to my seat And rested my chin on my hand. He is up to something. I'm sure. He isn't going to hurt me or my cousin, I'll make sure of that. I knew now that this revolution wasn't worth my head.
The bastard figured me out. I'll have to leave. Sorry uncle, but I'm not dying today.
~King George's pov~
I held the small box in my hand shoving it into my pocket. Racing to my study and began planning for this evening.
Everything was to go smoothly now that Y/N was attending. Everything was now relying on me.
It was because tonight I was doing something I should've done a long time ago. But now with the right person, it's too late for next time.
"Your Majesty!" I heard someone call me, I reluctantly got out of my seat and headed to where the voice was coming from. One of my courtiers handed me a letter.
Dear, King George III
My dearest apologies but my cousin and I have come to the conclusion which has lead us to resign. We will be leaving this afternoon at 3:00 and heading back to our home. Sadly I could not tell you this in person as we are in quite a rush.
We are greatly humbled that we were able to serve you. But alas we have made our decision, and sadly we resign. I hope in future we can meet again but for now it had been a pleasure serving you.
Kind Regards,
Y/N L/N
I dropped the letter in shock, why would they leave so suddenly. With no hesitation, I rushed through halls and scattered across stairs until I reached their room. I took no time in knocking and opened the door.
