Chapter Six: Be Careful

Marcus cleaned off the table while Isobel read Nina a bedtime story. Tonight had been one of the better night's he had in a long time, he enjoyed being around Isobel and Nina, and he could feel himself wanted to be around the mother-daughter duo more.

Marcus shook his head as he placed the dishes in the sink and grabbed himself a beer from the fridge. The feelings he could feel himself developing for Isobel felt foreign to him, he hadn't allowed himself to feel anything real towards another woman since his wife, but Diana was gone and a part of him left when her.

Isobel though, she was different from all the women he tried to fill the part that his ex-wife took with her. She was smart, feisty, and so fucking caring. Marcus could tell she had the heart of a Saint, and he was a sinner. He'd only taint that heart of hers.

"Thank you, Marcus." Isobel said with a smile as she walked into the kitchen. "You didn't have to though." She said while grabbing a beer for herself.

"You cooked." He pointed out, licking his lips as he watched the brunette bend down to grab a beer from the fridge. Marcus could feel a primal need for Isobel growing in his body as he stared at the brunette. His mind beginning to wander to very dirty thoughts about her, wondering what it felt like to touch her in the most intimate places.

"Well, thank you." Isobel thanked again before taking a long sip of her cold beer.

Her voice broke him away from his x-rated thoughts and he nodded his head in response. It was silent in the small kitchen as they stared at each other, a warm breeze blew in through the open window above the sink and Marcus' brown eyes stayed glued to Isobel as she pulled off her long sleeved shirt, leaving her in a tank top that showed off her tattoos. Marcus downed the rest of his beer quickly, he leaned against the counter his eyes still watching Isobel.

"There's flan if you want dessert." Isobel offered, breaking the silence between them.

Isobel could feel the sexual tension between them spilling over into the small kitchen, and her mind couldn't help but wonder what it would be like to feel Marcus Alvarez's lips against her. She couldn't help but wonder what it would feel like to have his rough hands touch every inch of her skin.

"I should get goin' querida." Marcus said while pushing himself off of the counter. He wanted dessert, but not the one Isobel was offering.

Isobel nodded, a part of her wanted him to stay but she knew it was the smarter choice for him to leave. Isobel knew if Marcus stayed any longer they would probably act on the sexual tension between them, and the brunette knew jumping into bed with Marcus Alvarez wouldn't be the smartest decision. It would only cause drama and she didn't need drama.

"Yeah." Isobel said softly while nodding her head.

"Gracias for dinner, Bella." Marcus smirked watching as her cheeks turned his favorite shade of pink before placing a kiss to her cheek. "Next time I'll cook for you." He promised while rubbing his thumb across her warm cheek.

Isobel could already feel the heat raising to her cheeks at the new nickname Marcus had given her, but once his calloused thumb touched her face she could of sworn she broke out into a fever at his touch.

"I'd like that." She said with a smile.

Isobel made her way towards the front of the hospital. She had been paged to the ER waiting room and all she could think was that something horrible had happened to her family. The brunette could feel her heart beating out of her chest with each step she took, her brown eyes scanned the waiting room as soon as she entered it. There was hardly any people in there and those who were waiting to be seen were not any faces she recognized.

"Hey, Leni." Isobel smiled at her fellow nurse and friend. "Do you happen to know why I was paged to the ER?" She asked a mix of confusion and curiosity in her voice.

"These came for you." The smiling blonde said while placing a vase of sunflowers on top of the counter. "Looks like you got yourself a secret admirer."

The brunette looked at the flowers with curiosity, she didn't know why but she couldn't shake the feeling that the flowers were a bad omen. She grabbed the small card that was taped to the case and quickly opened it, her brown eyes reading over the sloppy handwriting.

'Ten cuidado, Isobel Romero.'

"Well, what does it say?" Leni asked with curiosity as she eyed her brunette friend.

"Nothing." Isobel said shaking her head and shoving the card into the pocket of her scrubs. "Did you see who dropped them off?" The brunette asked.

"Just a normal delivery guy." The blonde shrugged. "Is everything okay, Is?" She asked while growing concerned for her friend.

"Yeah, yeah." Isobel nodded while placing a smile on her face. "I'll see you later." She said before walking off quickly.

Isobel pulled her cell phone from pocket as she made her way towards the exit of the hospital, she could vaguely hear Leni calling after her before she walked out into the heat of Santo Padre. The brunette felt bad for ignoring her friend but she needed to get to the scrapyard.
