Chapter 12 C chord

Sarawat was sittng on a chair on the private promenade deck playing his guitar, Tine looked pretty nervous, so he asked hi why he was so nearvous.

"Don't I have the right to be nervous if I want? I'm thinking about my job... about this whole situation... about how all this is messed up... Fukuda is always so wierd and I still don't understand why a lieutenant in Korea is so important!..."

"Maybe he's just an old time friend... maybe Fukuda is pretty sensitive... we aren't all ice cubes like you Tine" Sarawat replied with an emotionless face

"Oh sorry mr Sensitive, just look at you, you don't care about anything, you just stay there, on a chair... playing your guitar... looking ta you it's like watching a romantic movie, I'm waiting for the strong woman with a terrible past who will pretend that she doesn't love you but that at the end will fall in love with the handsome guy with the guitar!" Tine shouted angrily

"So... I'm handsome" Sarawat replied smirking since he knew that it could olny make that situation even worse. 

"Oh shut up!" 

"Oh come on, I know that you like when I tease you... Nuisance..." 

"I said, shut up!" 

"yeah yeah... clear..." 

"Wanna teach me... how to... play that?" wait what? Was Tine really asking him if he could teach him how to play the guitar? Well it was kind of weird... but since it was a pretty unique opportunity Sarawat didn't care that much about it and just nodded. 

"Mei, can you bring me a chair please?" Tine asked, soon the maid arrived with one of the chair of the living room. Tine sat down next to Sarawat, he took the guitar and Sarawat placed his finger one by one to teach him how to play a C chord

"Play now... no, not like that... oh come on!" Sarawat said as he tried to teach him how to make a proper sound for the tenth time

"Hey! I started just now! Why do you have to be always this rude?"

"I'm not rude, it isn't my fault if you don't do what I ask you... come on... let's try again... nuisance" 

"Stop calling me like that ok?"

"What? Nuisance?" Tine stood up and gave him his guitar back, he left the cabin before Sarawat could even realize what was going on. 

He took his coat and went upstairs, it was already pretty dark but he could see the lights of the korean shore, it was so quite out there, there were just a few passengers and officers. 

He looked at the sea... the dark water was so beautiful even if he couldn't tell why... but suddenly three strange little waves came closer to the side of the ship. They were so fast, suddenly he heard a bell ringing and an officer shouting but he couldn't understand what he was saying. 

As the three waves hit the ship he heard a muffled explosion and the water reached the deck. He remained there, standing because of the shock. He looked   at the sailors and the officers running to prepared the boats, five of them were coming back inside to call the passengers. Sarawat managed to stop one of them

"What's going on?" 

"We're sinking sir..." the officer said and ran away. 

Sarawat went back inside, the loud noise of the steam that was now pushed out of the engines wasn't easy to hear from the inside, he started looking for Tine. he ran back to his cabin but there wasn't anyone. 

"TINE! TINE!" he shouted without caring about the other passengers laughing bacause of his strange behaviour. He felt strange, he slowly found difficult to stand up properly... the ship was listing... he looked at the stairs and finally noticed Tine who was running to the boat deck shouting his name

"SARAWAT! SARAWAT!" Sarawat came closer to him. Tine fell, his leg hurt like hell, tears fell from his eyes

"Tine! Tine don't worry... " 

"S... sarawat... you should go... they won't be able... to lower all the  boats..." 

"shut up..." Sarawat replied. 

They slowly reached the boat deck, Tine was almost unconscious because of the pain, all he clould say was 

"Sarawat... it... it hurts... it's so cold..."

"Don't worry... we're almost there..."  Sarawat said. The water already reached the boat deck, it looked like it was the end, they couldn't see anything except for the water under their feet... but then a sailor yelled at them and an officer helped him to get Tine on one of the boats

They were finally safe, the air was so cold, everything was quite, the only noisy place was the ship, the light that came from there and the screams were terrible and looked like a dying giant.

Sarawat covered Tine's eyes so that he couldn't see what was happening but Tine removed it from his eyes, then he looked at Sarawat, he smiled at him 

"Come... closer..." Sarawat thought that Tine wanted to tell him something but he couldn't focus on anything else than teh tragedy in front of his eyes. Tine kissed him

"I... I love you ... Sarawat..." Tine said, Sarawat wanted to reply but he noticed that Tine was shivering so he took a blanket and covered him

"I lov..."

"It's so cold... Sarawat... I want to.... sleep..." 

"Tine?! TINE! TINE WAKE UP! WAKE UP!" it was his most terrible nightmare

"Wake up! Wake up Tine! Tine!" 

"Sarawat? Sarawat wake up! WAKE UP ASSHOLE!" Tine shouted shaking him

"TINE!" Sarawat shouted as he woke up, he looked around confused, he looked at Tine and sighed in relief

"Where... are we?"

"near Jemulpo, we will arrive tomorrow morning, now get dressed for dinner, come on"
