Believe it or not, ever since Natalie and Toby's disastrous first school day, things had brightened up for the both of them. Natalie's parents actually accepted her new hair but went to a hair salon, to freshen it up. Her natural forehead curl was now gone. Instead, her hair was shaved down to their roots and the other still with her long, dangly, brown hair. She loved it and it gained a lot of people's attention at school.

Miraculously, after three weeks since Toby was placed into the hospital, he finally woke up. Natalie was weeping with joy. Her friend wasn't dead after all.

"Oh Toby, I thought you were gone!" Natalie was overjoyed, pulling in Toby for a long, tight hug. She hugged him as if it would be the last hug he would recieve. Toby's head of fluffy hair was wrapped in bandages. He laughed. She was happy to hear his laugh again.

"W-What are you talking a-about? I'm n-not going anywhere, N-Nat.." Toby consoled. "Goddamn you man, I thought you died." Natalie giggled. Toby's dark eyes widened as he gaped at her.

"What?" She asked, between tears of joy.

"Woah...you look...different.." The young Rogers remarked, feeling his face grow hot. For a minute, it felt like he was talking to someone completely different. Not the girl he had known for half of his life. "Yeah, I know. Mum and Dad took me to a hair salon, to get my hair done.."

"O-Oh about that, did t-those bastards get their p-punishments?" Toby asked.

Natalie laughed again. "Toby.."

"B-Because of they d-didn't, I-I have no problem g-giving it to t-them myself, Nat."  The patient sat up in his bed. Nurse Telly rushed to his aid. "Oh, oh, sweetie, lay down. You got horrible scars on your back.."

The boy looked confused. He furrowed his brows. "I-I do?"

Natalie and Telly exchanged each other weary looks. The woman glanced at him. "S-Sweetie, you don't feel that? They're massive."

Toby twitched as he, shockingly, shook his head 'no.' Natalie whirled her head to look over at Telly trying to explain to him that he had awful injuries.

"Uh, Telly. Maybe it's just a side effect of the medication you put him on." Ouellette assured, crossing her arms. Even though, she tried to find a logical explanation for this, she was scared out of her mind. Did her friend just gain a weird new thing where he couldn't feel pain? She had seen them herself. They scarred all over his back. He had scraped his back when he went falling back onto the road and smashed his head.

"But that can't be true." Telly muttered. "Normally, painkillers would wear off around to 14 to 20 days. It's been three weeks." She gave the patient an anxious look. "Please, excuse me, I'll have to get the doctor.  I'll be right back..." The female soon exited the room, and left Natalie and Toby alone.

"Well, I-I guess I'm screwed." Natalie's friend commented, sighing. "It's been three weeks a-already? Damn, I've b-been out for a l-long time."

Natalie's hazel eyes twinkled with sadness a little. "I really thought you were gone, Tobster." She held his hand which sent Toby's mind to blow up with questions. Oh my god, Oh my god, Nat's holding my hand. Does she like me or something?

No, don't be dumb, Toby. He told himself.  The room scented with honeycomb again. "I'm gonna admit it...I was scared for you. I thought you died.." But then Natalie smiled through her tears. "You're still here. Thank you, you didn't leave me, man."  The brunette lifted her fist.

"Fist bump?" She asked, beaming. Toby smiled. "But s-seriously, what t-the hell was that? That was o-one heck of a day we had t-there, Nat." But before Natalie could answer, they both turned their heads towards the door, who had someone knocking behind it.  "Come in!"

A little boy trotted in, followed by two other familiar people. "Hey man, how've you been?" Lucas asked, holding a bag of treats and balloons with the words; "Get well!" printed on them. The adults said their greetings and asked for Toby's wellbeing. Lucas leaned over and gave the teen a big hug. Natalie felt her heart toast up. "I missed seeing you, Toby.." She heard her little brother say.

"Me too, m-my little dude.."

(Lucas and Toby are best bros lol)

Natalie's parents couldn't stay for long though. Having to work through the weekends, strained on their butts. Mary Beth scanned her watch, seeing that it was already 11:30. Thank god, they got to start late. Lucas didn't have school and neither did the eldest daughter. And if they finished late, she could always take Lucas home. "Well, I think it's time for us to get going, David." Natalie's mother said.

"Alright, let's go." And with that, David had already left the room. Wow, that motherfucker didn't even say goodbye or anything? Their daughter thought, looking away.

Mary Bethany Ouellette heaved a sigh. "Sorry bout him, honey. Anyways, I gotta get going. Get well soon, Toby. And Natalie, Lucas.."

The siblings faced their mother. "Behave.." She ordered, gravely.

They nodded as the housewife closed the door to the room. Lucas sat at the foot of Toby's bed. Natalie's younger brother had a wide, cocky smirk spread across his face. The sister knew that face, all too well. "Lucas, don't you dare.." She hissed, doing a "I'm gonna fucking kill you, if you do." look. But the brother didn't catch onto her pathetic massage of threat, when he said:

"So...what have two lovebirds been up to, when we weren't here?" Lucas questioned.

Once the question sank in, Toby blushed. It wasn't like that. But Natalie had a murderous look on her face. "Oh, you are so dead.."
