I know, I know. I was on a roll and now I'm not :p The holidays have caught up with me and I'm busy juggling schoolwork and family.
On a better note, I actually rewrote this entire chapter because I didn't like it the first time. It was also when I was super tired so please point out typos!
"Oh my gosh, you slept over at his place? In his frat house? In his frat bedroom?!" Macy squeals. The need to cover her mouth overpowers me but I somehow restrain myself from doing so. We're not on a quiet floor and I doubt anyone's listening in. Even if they are, it's not like the news is interesting.
It's Sunday now. Macy, Sonia, and I are camping out in the library. We've been slacking lately and midterms are upon us. We desperately need this.
Then again, with the way two curious sets of eyes are peering at me, I doubt math will be the focus of the night.
And yes, Sonia has grudgingly agreed to not study on a quiet floor.
"Yeah, and only slept," I emphasize before they get all kinds of ideas in their heads. Knowing them, they'll jump to the assumptions super quick. "I had some weird dizzy spell and he insisted that I shouldn't drive home."
"And he cares for you? So romantic," Macy sighs dreamily. I laugh at her low standards. The bar is truly on the floor.
"I think it's dumb. If you hadn't fallen asleep, he would have tried to get into your pants," Sonia huffs cynically. It's safe to assume she doesn't support this relationship in the least.
"You're so delightful," Macy sarcastically drawls. Unlike Sonia, she encourages my... thing with Laine, whatever it is.
"I doubt it," I groan, referring to what Sonia said. "We've kissed maybe like three times. Besides, he's sending me mixed signals! One minute he's giving me his jacket and the next he's platonically sleeping next to me like a friend would. I genuinely can't tell what I am to him." With a newfound frustration bubbling inside of me, I gently bang my head against the table and rest it there. The wood cools down the heat of my skin.
"Hm, well sounds like he isn't the guy for you," Sonia drawls out. I hear Macy smack her across the table and I stifle a laugh. It's refreshing to see two completely opposite sides on the subject, even though it can be annoying at times. "I'm just saying!"
"Okay, Ms. Romantic. Not all of us are as hopeful as you," Macy retorts. She has a good point. I'm pretty sure no one is as optimistic as Sonia in the love department.
Isn't that sad?
"Amen," I grin as I lift up my head and point to the redhead, who responds with a smug smile. It's also nice to know Macy and I have the same opinions on love – it sucks and leaves you broken.
Both Macy and Sonia take a break from their glaring game to take a sip of their coffee. My stomach literally whimpers as I torture myself to watch. It looks so good and I'm so tired. When spring semester started, I decided to go on a coffee cleanse. I figured drinking so much caffeine couldn't possibly be healthy, therefore I attempted to stop. Now I'm having big regrets.
Swallowing my pride, and drool, I say, "I think I'm going to grab some coffee."
Sonia's head whips toward me at warp speed. "What? Why? You've been doing so good!" She was the one in charge of making sure I stayed strong. She did a good job too, until now. Maybe if she wasn't practically waving her drink in my face, I could've held off.
"But that's a good reason to get it, isn't it? Like a reward," I justify, looking at them for confirmation. When Sonia continues to look unconvinced, I continue. "Plus I'm exhausted and this work isn't going to finish itself."
