My jaw opens and closes like a fish as I stare at the brunette beauty. Just seeing her in the flesh sends a wave of nostalgia down my spine. One that isn't appreciated.
Oh, fuck me!
I've spent the last four years dealing with the acknowledgment that everything is different. Not everything is all rainbow and sunshine. Four years of maturity. Four years of waiting.
Well, I haven't seen Eleanor nor Louis since I broke up with Harry even before I went to college. I always had the intention of making up with them, but as everything slowly went down it just didn't seem appropriate anymore.
She blinks at me like she's waking up from a dream. "El-"
I panic. I can't have Medusa know I know her model. God knows what she'll make me say and do. So, I interrupt. "Oh my god! You're Eleanor Calder, right?"
She stares at me, confused.
"Of course I know your boyfriend! Yeah, I'll get him right away," I say with extra enthusiasm. Daffodil stares at me in confusion, probably wondering why I'm suddenly so energetic. However, whatever doubts she has flashes in an instant and she urges me to go on.
I take a breath when I'm far enough from them. Then the reality of it all sets in. I'm supposed to go out there and hunt Louis Tomlinson down. The same man who I basically ghosted five years ago. The same man who's best friends with my soulmate.
Oh fuuuck.
What do I do? What do I do?!
Daniel!
I slowly walk up to him. His eyes are on his phone, probably to avoid the half-naked girls. "Hey, Danny?"
He looks up from his phone and smiles. "What's up? Oh, don't tell me she wants another smoothie."
"She made a comment about it being lukewarm," I solemnly nod. "But that's not what I need. Do you know who Louis Tomlinson is?"
His face scrunches in thought as he looks down at the floor. "Is he the one who created Louis Vuitton?"
I sigh. He's hopeless! "No... nevermind. Erm, I need to find someone. Please attend to her majesty if she calls."
"You got it!"
I leave him alone and walk out to the runway area. Guests aren't allowed yet but those who have VIP access are allowed to take their seats. There are a lot of people hanging around, whether they be sitting or frantically walking around. They all look rich and important in their designer fashion that looks a little too exotic for me. I look behind the curtain and scour out Louis.
There! He's sitting in one of the front rows, probably to support his girlfriend. For a moment, my heart melts. They've always been a cute couple.
He looks practically the same, except he's not baby faced anymore. Stubble sleekly lands around his chin and cheeks, connecting at his upper lip. If it was anyone else, I'd think it's just a shadow, but I know damn well how Louis was when it came to grooming himself.
I must say, he made the right choice.
My foot taps against the wood of the stage as I cower behind the pink silk curtain. I need to find a way to call him without him knowing I'm here. Quite honestly, it's an interesting twist in fate. It's like fate was bored with the drama-free life I'm been living and wanted a plot twist.
Good thing I'm up for a challenge.
A light bulb lights up in my mind as I spot one of the technical staff walking around the stage. I wave her over. She looks annoyed but follows orders anyway. After all, my pass is more exclusive than hers.
