"Make sure you're prepared tomorrow, bright and early. This show is very important for me," Medusa hollers before disappearing to her office.

I stare at her now-closed office door and sigh before returning to my screen. Tomorrow is the day we're going to the Victoria Secret fashion show. Medusa was successful in convincing her client and she's going to be the makeup artist. This is a big deal for her because she's always wanted to dabble in fashion shows. She hopes this will open up more opportunities for her to collab with big companies in the future.

Sometimes I wonder whether Daff has a soulmate but then I realize she must. I'm pretty sure she can see color. If she can't, she's pretty good at fooling people in her tutorials.

I'm 100% sure she can though.

I never asked and I'm not planning to either. Asking is considered rude in society. Most of the time it's easy to figure out anyway.

My phone rings at my desk and I pick it up without checking the caller ID. "You've reached Daffodil's office. How many I assist you?"

"Hi Ellie, we have a delivery for you," the receptionist from the lobby says. I'm not surprised. We often get deliveries that are in my name instead of Daffodil's.

"Alright, be there soon."

I hang up the landline and spin in my chair for a second before eyeing the time. Something in me dies a little as I realize it's already six p.m. I spent the whole day doing practically nothing.

I rush downstairs to get my delivery because I know the receptionist is going to be off shift soon. She smiles warmly when she sees me and nods toward the paper bag on the counter. I eye it in confusion.

As I read the receipt attached to it, I see it's an Uber Eats delivery. At first, I think Daff ordered it on my name so the driver doesn't attempt to hand-deliver it. After all, I'm quite insignificant compared to Medusa. But as I read the order, I know it's not. She wouldn't order a burger and fries if she was paid to.

I carefully take the bag and place it on my desk. As soon as I do that, Daff walks out and doesn't spare the food a second glance, meaning she didn't order it.

"I'm heading out now. Ellie, you better be prepared for tomorrow. I don't want to see any dark circles under those eyes, okay? Wear concealer to cover them up. They're horrendous."

I snort but straighten up when she gives me her signature Medusa glare. "Yes ma'am."

"And hurry up with those brand deals! I don't pay you for nothing!"

Yeah, but you practically pay us nothing, I want to add, but I'm totally not bold enough. It doesn't matter because she's already clacking out of the office, leaving me totally alone.

I sink back into my chair and open my computer.

>>Me: Thanks for the food

<<Danny: No idea what you're talking about

I laugh out loud before closing out of the app. Danny always makes sure I stay remotely healthy. It's sweet of him.

I use one hand to eat while the other hovers above my mouse as I reply to emails. The offers are from pretty impressive brands, but a lot are much beneath Medusa's style. She's very particular when it comes to many things, like the lighting in her videos or the way her makeup is displayed. Sometimes I wonder if she's diagnosed with OCD but I know as obsessive as she is, she's just a very particular neat freak.

It's just hard meeting her expectations sometimes.

My food's long gone and I stretch in my chair after my muscles feel sore. My eyes fly over to the clock and I curse aloud. "How the fuck is it already ten?"
