A few days ago when Harry had mischievously told me he'd help me move in, I didn't think too much of it.
I should've.
Because the following day, he showed up at Daffodil's apartment with movers. Movers! I have probably ten outfits to my name! Why the hell would I need movers?
Because the idiot also went shopping for me. Daff's apartment is fully furnished so I don't need furniture. However, Harry had decided he was going to splurge on groceries, appliances, and clothes.
"I mostly picked out outfits I'd love to peel you out of," he told me with a cheeky grin.
I rolled my eyes at the time but I really do appreciate it now. After all, I've been putting off buying new clothes since the apartment flooded. Having a full closet for once is actually relieving and exhilarating at the same time.
Speaking of, living in Daff's place is weird. It's been about five days since I've moved in and I'm just now getting used to it. I half-expect to walk in on her doing her weird pilates in her living room before realizing she doesn't stay here anymore. The thought itself is very, very weird.
And because of that, I refuse to sleep in the master. Harry's brought over new sheets and stuff, but the idea of living in Daff's room is too much. I sleep in the guest room, which isn't terrible at all. In fact, it's better than my old apartment so I really can't complain.
Plus what if she and Alex– you know, in there.
The place is mostly decorated in tones of yellow and white, exactly how I'd expect it. Her kitchen has up-to-date appliances and the guest bathroom is humongous, even bigger than Harry's. I feel like I'm getting spoiled here.
I'm really lucky.
Inhaling a large breath, my hands curl along a steaming mug of coffee as I look at the view from the kitchen. The Nespresso, courtesy of Harry, makes surprisingly delicious coffee. I wonder how I'll ever go back to regular coffee now. The view outside is beautiful, the sun rising above a luscious line of trees.
For once, I don't want to go to work early.
Surprising myself, I finish off the coffee and head into the bedroom to change into leggings and a sports bra, also courtesy of Harry. I can't remember the last time I went on a run in California was.
I grab my keys and pop in my headphones before beginning a light jog around the block. The wind whips around my ponytail. My adrenaline spikes as I breathe in the polluted air.
It's the best it's going to get.
I jog to a nearby park, which is empty. Not a single soul in sight. I take a mental note to come back here when it's full and continue my run. It would be nice to experience "fresh air" with children's laughter in the background.
After about thirty minutes, I make a u-turn and jog back to Daff's place. I feel like a new person. Refreshed. Clear-headed. Not only have I been living on my own and surviving, but I've been doing okay mentally.
I'm okay.
After a shower and a banana, I still manage to make it to the office before anyone else. Grinning, I silently head to my desk and bask in the lack of noise. As much as people hate it, I love the way the office is when no one's here. It genuinely calms me.
My monitor powers on, blue light illuminating my face. I choose not to turn the light on, letting the darkness of the office relax me even more. The blinds are shut and I make no movement to open them either. Later, when everyone comes, they'll open.
