"So..." Caitlin started "I have a SURPRISE for you!"
"What?!" "Please tell me!" I begged
It was the day after the volleyball game and I got no sleep at all last night just thinking about what the scout had said. When I got home last night I ran to tell my grandma. She was so proud of me.
"Your dad would be so proud." She smiled as tears rolled down her rosy cheeks.
Her words made me cry. I knew he'd be proud of me. One day a few years ago, my coach said I had a lot of potential and I quietly made a promise to my dad that i'd make the Olympics some day. I will never forget that promise I made to him.
"Ok, fine, i'll tell you!" Caitlin said taking my mind off my dad.
"TELL ME, TELL ME, TELL ME!" I exclaimed getting as excited as a five year-old.
She giggled.
"I'M GOING TO IRELAND!!!!" She shouted happily.
"O MY GOD when?!"
"For the holidays, and guess what!"
"What?" I questioned
She grinned "YOUR GOING WITH ME!!!"
"WHAT?!"
"Yeah!"
I was about to just say hell yeah i'll go but then I remembered my grandma, I couldn't leave her alone for the holidays especially Christmas, she'd be all alone.
"I can't," I sighed.
Caitlin stopped the happy dance she was doing and turned to look at me like I was insane.
"WHAT WHY NOT?!"
"My grandma." I whispered.
"Oh," was all she could say.
"You have to go though, i'll be stuck with my aunts and uncles and cousins I haven't seen since I was like 6!" she groaned.
"I don't know."
"I'll let you think about it!" She said quickly.
"We're leaving in two weeks!"
I thought for a minute. How was I going to tell my grandma about this?
"Ok." I found myself saying.
"GREAT! See you at lunch!" She called as she made her way down the hall.

"Grandma I'm home!" I shouted walking through the door of the apartment.
No answer
I walked into the kitchen where I found a note on the counter.
Dear Char,
Visiting a friend, be back by 7. Food in the fridge.
-Grandma
I plopped down on the couch, not feeling like doing homework at the moment, and turned on the TV. Ellen was on. My grandma loved this show. I had to admit I liked to watch it sometimes too, but I preferred Criminal Minds.
