After having searched every nook and cranny of the school halls to no avail, Chase went to the last place on his mind - the boys' washroom. He was surprised to find Zero there, but he was more so thankful - yet the state in which he had found him in was enough to shatter his heart into a million little pieces.
He couldn't even bear to look at him. Just a few minutes prior, he had been laughing along with the boys and talking about insignificant things - however, now he was in the boys' washroom with tears cascading down his cheeks.
Unable to stand seeing him in such a condition any longer, Chase suggested that the both of them call it a day and return home.
Zero agreed.
Thus, they walked back home in silence.
When they got there, Chase led the way to his bedroom and suggested that Zero should lay down - which, he did.
Chase even helped tuck him into bed and stayed by his side for a little more than an hour, comforting him whilst running his fingers through his hair - telling him that Jason had only meant it as a joke.
The whole time, Zero said nothing.
He could only cry.
