althaiophobia - the fear of marshmallows
Roonie's POV:

"Roonie-"

"I don't want to talk to you," I said keeping my eyes on the road.

"That's the only reason I'm in here!"

"I didn't ask to talk. In fact, I didn't even ask you to get in my car."

"But I did. So if you don't want to talk, can you at least listen?" I looked over at him. He was looking at me with those hazel puppy eyes that made me want to hug him but also kill him at the same time.

"You have the car ride."

"Thank you." He sighed. "For starters, please don't do it."

I looked through the rear view mirror at Sean. "Do what?"

"You know what I'm talking about." I did know. I told him that today was his last day to ever see Sean.

"Why shouldn't I?" I asked. "Under your watch, all of my nightmares came to life."

"And I'm sorry. There was so much happening-"

"And you couldn't set your priorities straight."

"I knew what my priorities were Roonie. You can't just assume that every time I mess up it's because I don't know them."

"Then explain why this all happened? Huh?"

"I was trying to satisfy everyone while also thinking of ways to get out-"

"So you weren't thinking of him-"

"Damnit Roonie, I was!"

"If you were this wouldn't have happened! You don't take anything serious Grayson! This is all just some joke to you!"

"It's not a joke-"

"You take everything lightly-"

"If I was taking it lightly I wouldn't even be in here!"

"I'm not talking about this conversation, Grayson!"

"Never in my life have I ever taken anything lightly-"

"You're the reason we didn't work out!" I yelled. He looked at me with soft eyes.

"And you're the reason we'll never work out!" He yelled back at me. Tears slowly built up in his eyes. "Because while I'm taking care of our son, you're fucking Donovan!"

"There's a difference though. We're over now, you had your eyes on Beth while we were together!"

"Beth-"

"You kissed her! You believed her over me! You walked out of our wedding! And left me alone with Sean!"

"She meant nothing to me! I doubted us because you doubted us!"

"I never-"

"If you never did, Beth shouldn't have been a problem then!" He was breathing heavy. "I don't take things lightly Roonie. I take everything to the heart. And I felt as much pain as you did today regardless of the amount of time I've known him."

"You don't know what my pain felt like!"

"Yeah-"

"You weren't the one sitting at work thinking that your son was okay! And then someone shows you that you son's face is plastered all over Twitter and tons of strangers are looking for him!"

"Yeah, but you're not the one who has to live with the guilt that if something had gone just a little bit different everything would be fine!"

"You're still a child, Grayson! You don't care about important things. How am I supposed to parent with you when you're a literal 5 year old!?"
