nomophobia - the fear of being without a mobile device
Grayson's POV

Ethan and I quickly filmed an intro for the video. I couldn't help but stare at Roonie who was sitting behind the camera. She kissed me like she used to last night. I held her like I used to last night. How could we have been so close but it not mean anything?

"Right, Gray?"

"Huh? Sorry."

"This is more of a you video?"

"Yes." I chuckled.

"Well, I'm gonna go man the camera now so that Gray can get started." Ethan walked off and I looked into the camera.

"Hey guys," I said with a smile. "I'm super nervous, but also super excited to film this video and share it with you guys. Um, this has been a dream of mine for as long as I can remember."

I looked up at Roonie who was smiling. She gave me two thumbs up.

"I'm a dad." I felt relief being lifted off of my shoulders as soon as I said that. "A lot of you already know, but I feel like explaining needs to be done."

I waved Roonie over and she got into the frame.

"Hi," she said softly.

"For those of you who don't know, this is the beautiful Veronica Carter." She smiled and waved. "We started dating back in 2019 and broke up 2 years after that. But there's a lot of stuff that we want to address and talk about before going into other stuff. Wanna start?"

"You can start."

"Okay." I smiled. "Roonie and I broke up 5 months before I released the tweet that we were over. We were actually planning on getting married in November of 2022, but things didn't work out and we broke up."

"I found out I was pregnant with our son 2 weeks after that and I had no way of contacting Gray."

"During the time, I was off the grid running away from my problems instead of facing them. Ethan and I even worked together to pretend like I was at home. No one knew where I was except for E."

"Um, eventually, Grayson came home, but I was in no mood to talk to him. I did my best to cut off any ties with him too. His family was the only link that I had to him." I looked over at her and smiled.

"And after 5 years of no talking, we ran into each other again a few months ago when I injured my hand and was sent to the same hospital she works at. That's where I met our son too."

"It was really hard introducing them to each other, but it worked out and I've never been happier."

"Sean!" I called. Sean came running over. He sat between Roonie and me. "Say hi, Sean."

"Hi," he said shyly.

"Introduce yourself."

"I'm Sean Carter." He smiled. "I'm 5 years old and my favorite color is blue-green. This is my mommy Roonie and my Grayson."

I chuckled.

"Regardless of the fact that we're broken up now, we're still best friends. We still help each other with our problems and stuff," I said.

"And we work together to provide for Sean..."

I looked over at Roonie. She pushed her hair behind her ear. The Cartier ring I bought her was on her finger. She still wore it?

"Grayson?"

"Huh?" I came back to reality and saw Roonie snapping her fingers in my face.

"Sean stays with you until I get off of work," she said with a smile.
