oneirophobia - the fear of dreams
Roonie's POV

"I'm gonna miss you," Dennis said softly. I gave him a tight hug.

"I'm gonna miss you too." I cried softly. I finally decided to quit my job and become a stay at home mom.

"If you even need a baby sitter, you know who to call." I smiled.

"And if you even need someone to rant to or if Angela pisses you off, you know who to call." Dennis cried.

"Who am I gonna eat lunch with now?"

"Your best friend, Angela-"

"Don't you ever say that again you fucking bitch."

"I love you, Dennis."

"I love you too, Veronica."

I picked my box up and looked around. I wasn't throwing away my dreams, I lived them out. I did what I've always wanted to do. And now, I was moving on to the next chapter of my life. It was time for me to conquer a new adventure.

"Bye, Dennis."

"Goodbye, V. Call me if you need anything."

"I will." I dropped the box and gave him another tight hug.

After parting ways, I walked down the familiar halls and down the elevator. I made my way to the parking lot. I placed the box in the trunk and stared up at the building.

"Goodbye, nursing."

-

"Grayson, I think it's time to clean out the tree house," I said.

"What?!" Sean asked. "You can't!"

"Sean, it's time." He looked at me with sad eyes. I looked over at Grayson. "It's time."

"Okay, if that's what you want."

-

We pulled up to Kian's house. Grayson carried the twins in. He lied them down upstairs in Cassie's room.

I walked out into the backyard and looked up at the treehouse. I took a deep breath and climbed the ladder. I peaked my head through the hole. Everything was still there, including my camp out area from Christmas. I smiled and looked around.

"Roonie?" Grayson called.

"Yes?" He passed me the broom and boxes.

We began taking down pictures and signs. We rolled up the air mattress. We picked up trash. We placed all of our important items into the box.

"Sean's really sad about this," Grayson said.

"I know, but this was needed. Kian's kids will be using this treehouse. And we can build Sean a treehouse."

"True." I sighed and continued to clean.

-

"It's done," Grayson said. We looked around. The treehouse was completely empty. We moved everything out, swept the floors and washed windows.

I smiled. Our initials were carved into the wood. I touched it for a moment.

"Roonie, why did we do this?" He asked.

"For new beginnings." I smiled. "It's time to start a new adventure and say goodbye to old ones."

He wrapped his arms around me and kissed my forehead as we stood and admired the emptiness of treehouse.

"You remember the second time we hung out?" He asked softly.

"How could I forget?" I smiled.

"You were sitting right there," he said pointing at the center of the treehouse. "And I was siting right across from you."
