It was dark, and rained poured heavily from the thundering clouds above. The temperatures were dropping steadily, although he barely felt a chill through the mesh of his suit. It was quiet for nine o'clock in New York City, but he certainly wasn't one to complain. Maybe crime had decided to take the night off.

"Karen, still haven't heard anything?" Peter asked the A.I. as his feet dangled from the ledge.

"Actually Peter, a distress signal has come from four blocks North of your current location." She informed.

Peter felt fear pool in his gut, knowing his aunt worked in the offices near there. He wasted no time, slinging a web, and leaping off the ledge.

"Karen, what's the exact area?"

"It is a distress signal from the alarm at GEMA office park." She answered.

"Dammit!"

He swung through the air as fast as possible, hoping his thoughts weren't correct.

When he arrived to the scene, he quickly noticed a woman lying on the ground with another trying to pull her bag from a man's grip. The second attacker was aiding the first, threatening to shoot the woman if she did not let go of the bag.

A glint of silver caught Peter's attention. It was the man's gun, which he quickly webbed against the nearest wall. He caught the man with another web, dragging him towards his knees and closer to himself. Peter swiftly kicked the man to the ground, knocking him out once his head hit the concrete.

He turned to make his way to the next assailant, seeing his gun aimed at the woman he'd been fighting with. Yet, Peter wasn't fast enough. Just before his web pulled the gun from the man's grasp, he had fired two shots, and the woman fell to the ground.

"Karen, call an ambulance!"

Peter quickly took down the second man, wrapping him in webs, before he made his way to the women. The first wasn't in terrible condition, suffering a head injury surely, as well as a stab wound on the left side of her torso. She groaned in pain as Peter moved her gently while assessing her.

"This will hurt a bit." He mumbled, webbing the wound closed to stop the bleeding.

Peter gently laid her flat on the ground, unable to do more for her until the ambulance arrived.

He quickly moved onto the next woman, and his blood ran cold.

"May!" He shouted, fear gripping his entire being.

He pulled his mask away from his face, examining her wounds. One shot had entered her stomach, the other was in the middle of her chest.

"May, can you hear me?"

She was losing consciousness, but smiled upon seeing Peter's face.

"Pete-"

He nodded, gripping her hand tightly as he did his best to close the two wounds.

"I'm here May, right here." He whispered. "Karen, where is that ambulance?"

"Two blocks, listen for the sirens."

May reached for Peter's face, brushing his curls away gently. She winced, but her smile never faltered.

"Love y-ou."

His vision was blurred by tears, yet he did his best to smile for her. The sound of sirens was full force as they stopped in front of the alleyway. He pulled his mask back over his face, lifting her as gently as he could.

"May, they're going to help you, okay?" He mumbled as EMT's raced around the scene. "I love you."

A few tears fell from her eyes as Peter laid her onto the stretcher.

"Spider-Man, we have to go!" One of the EMT's shouted.

He nodded shakily, taking a few steps away from May, watching as they loaded up, and drove away.

A few Police officers lingered around, arresting the two assailant's and gathering evidence. Peter barely acknowledged when one of the officers thanked him.

They too left the scene, leaving Peter alone in the dark alley.

"Peter, I would advise you to take a few deep breaths." He heard Karen say softly.

He pulled his mask off once more, desperately trying to force air into his burning lungs. He sank to his knees, doubling over as he choked on his tears.

"Is there anyone I can call, or any other breathing techniques I can recommend?"

He shook his head, stumbling over his words. "I don't- I don't know."

He pressed himself against the bricks, sobs threatening to escape him. The fabric of his suit was suddenly suffocating, and he tugged it away from his body. Though it proved to be useless.

Peter was faintly aware of Karen's voice, however she sounded so far from him, drowned out by the incessant ringing. His mind felt muddy and black spots danced across his vision.

"Karen I ne- I need-" He tried, but his lungs held no air.

He peeled himself away from the wall, lying down on the ground instead. He cried into the concrete, attempting to rid himself of panic.

"Peter-" He heard Karen's voice. "-calling... Tony Stark."

Just an FYI, I am rewriting this for the third time, and basically everything is different. I only have the first five edits completed so far, and probably will have even slower edits of the future chapters. Even tho I'm not really on here anymore, this book physically makes me cringe in some parts and it has to be adjusted lol. Many comments will not make sense, and I do apologize for that, but this really needed to be done. Thank you for understanding, and for reading! xo
