Kate was in denial about her feelings, she had been since the conversation with her aunt and there was nothing that her aunt could tell her that would change her mind. Lissa, who due to their strange bond had found out about Kate's crush on Dimitri, had joined Diana in trying to assure Kate that there was nothing wrong with her having a crush on Dimitri, but Kate refused to believe them.
And that's how they ended up at the shopping mall, looking for dresses for the ball that was coming up, which neither had originally planned to attend but were convinced by Diana, who had basically told them that she had already missed so many events in Kate's life that there was no way that she was going to miss this event.
"Do you think that Belikov will be back in time for the ball?" Lissa asked Kate as they browsed dress after dress, trying to find the perfect dress, Kate looked above the rack to see Diana looking at some dresses, trying to pretend to be a customer so that the Humans didn't pick up on them.
"I have no idea." Kate replied easily, glancing at the dresses on the rack, she wasn't really looking any dresses to buy, although she knew that her aunt was.
Another argument that Kate had had with her aunt, and Lissa, was the fact that Kate claimed that she didn't need a dress to attend the party, that she would merely wear the same thing that she wore when she got marked, but that quickly got shut down by the fact that Diana claimed that Kate needed to wear a dress for the party, claiming that she'd already lost too many important events in Kate's life.
"I thought you were finally exchange emails." Lissa frowned at her best friend while glancing over the racks and checking Natalie and Victor, who were a few racks away.
"Yeah, 'I do hope that you aren't skipping your training sessions just because I'm not there to drag you to the gym' or 'Do not forget to improve your footwork, I expect to come back to an actual challange.'" Kate recounted with an almost offended look on her face.
Lissa looked amused with Kate's words before teasing "Is that how he flirts?"
Kate elbowed Lissa quickly and shot her a glare before muttering lowly so no one heard her "He doesn't like me like that, I'm just his student, stop imagining things. You're worse than my aunt." Lissa merely rolled her eyes at Kate's words, seeing as she was telling Diana everything that she wanted to know about Dimitri and Kate since her and Kate's arrival at the Academy.
"I'll take that as a compliment, your aunt is a very knowledgeable person and I aspire to know as much as she does." Lissa countered with a smirk, knowing that due to the close proximity, Diana was listening to everything the two girls were saying.
