It was clear who had spoken.

The voice was undeniably familiar and the Headmistress reaction alerted those who didn't know that there was only two people who could have spoken, and one of them was no longer with them.

Lissa Dragomir had spoken.

She had detached herself from Christian and Natalie and walked closer to the Headmistress, making the already on high alert Guards sweat slightly in their clothes as the scenario in their heads turned even more gruesome.

"So the rumours are true, you are back." Elaine commented merely looking at the blonde princess, not moving one muscle.

"Yes I am." Lissa confirmed, stopping next to the Headmistress, much the woman's relief, "And I know what it feels like to want to protect your family forever." She continued, looking the woman dead in the eyes, entrancing her.

"I wished I could have saved Rose, but I couldn't. I couldn't save any of them." Lissa told the woman, willing herself to use compulsion, the strongest she could manage without tapping into her bond with Kate.

"What do you think you're doing?" The Headmistress hissed lowly at her, both worried and annoyed, no Moroi has ever been able to compel a Strigoi and lived to tell the tale, so there was no proof that it could be done.

"I wish I had the power to have saved them." Lissa continued, forcing herself to keep looking into the red obrs that would and will surely plague her with nightmares for the next couple of nights, the same ones that tormented Kate.

"To have to power to prevent Kate from dying as well." her own words shocked her, never did she think like this, at least not since meeting Kate, yet there she was uttering words that would surely land her in a Moroi Psych House under 24-hour surveillance.

"You know the way to achieve it." Elaine taunted, slowly but granted surely falling under the Princess's spell.

"I don't think I could do it that way, take the life of another just to be able to save those I love from death." Lissa replied instantly, feeling as if she herself was under a spell as well, even though she knew it was only the effect of the strong compulsion taking its toll on her.

"I could do it for you." Elaine laughed, slowly standing up, keeping her hold on Max strong, her eyes were filled with amusement, "Although you must take me for a fool Princess." her voice turned hard again, her jaw clenching slightly and her red eyes narrowing on the princess, breaking the compulsion link.

"Your mortal Moroi tricks don't work on me, on us, on the Strigoi." her fingers began to dig deeper into the young boy's skin, "We are stronger than you, faster than you, better than you. We could tear you to shreds before you even had time to blink. You're weak, pathetic and starved, you need halfbreed and bloodwhores to protect you from the alphas."
