In this chapter if you see a speech in bold and italics but with no translation,
it's because it's said in Russian, which will be most of the chapter,
but I don't think I'll actually be writing the sentences in Russian.

Yeva and Olena Belikova frowned as they watched their grandson and son, respectively, play with his baby niece

"Something's wrong with him." Olena told her mother in Russian, "He's usually not this reserved with us."

Dimitri had been back home in Baia for no more than 3 days but had not yet spoken about his job at the Academy, which was incredibly unlike him, especially considering the fact that he'd been exchanging emails and telegrams with his family since his arrival at the Academy.

"Don't push him Lena, you know the boy always does everything at his own pace." Yeva replied to her daughter, only for Olena to huff annoyed.

It wasn't that Olena didn't know that her son was stubborn and always did things his way, but there was something about the way that Dimitri alwys checked the mailbox, or his mail on the computer that made her curious about what he was anxious about.

It wasn't that Dimitri had never acted like this before, he had, and that was why Olena was even more curious about the situation.

"The boy takes too much after his father when it comes to feelings." Olenna said almost depreciatively, a deep frown settling on her aging face, "Although, I know that not all men are open to speaking about their feelings."

Dimitri was playing with his niece, picking her up and lifting her into the air which caused the baby girl to giggle loudly. There was a certain softeness in Dimitri whenever he was with his family that no one but his family was privy to, but simultaneously he'd started to show to one other person.

"Are we talking about Dimitri sulking?" Sonya questioned with a bored tone, looking at her twin brother as she sat down at the table with her mother and grandmother, "Because if we are, my opinion is that he's sulking because of a girl."

It wasn't always that Sonya gave her opinion about her twin brother, but when she did, she was usually correct. Olena and Yeva shared a look at the young pregnant woman's words, but they both couldn't deny the same thoughts that rant hrough their heads.

"I think it's the girl he's training. I mean, most of his correspondence before coming home revolved around the girl, and the praises he wrote about her, Dimka never praises anyone." Sonya stated, eating her bowl of cereals.

Again, everyone knew that Sonya was telling the truth, but they knew that Dimitri would never admit to anyone, not even himself, that he felt some sort of intimate companionship for a fellow Dhampir.
