(most descriptive writing depends on what POV (point of view) youre writing in)
there's not really much I can say about this topic, except that adjectives are about to be your best friend.
describing a person
1) when you describe a person, do not - I repeat, DO NOT - only use, he/she, her/him. use their hair colour (the brunet, the ginger, the blonde) use their height (the short woman, the tall man) use their eye colour (the blue eyed boy, the green eyed girl)
2) do not use the same word over and over and over again. use synonyms if you want to. but don't use the same word, it will bore the readers. instead of constantly saying 'scream' use howl, yell, holler. instead of constantly saying the red (as the hair colour or smth) say, blood red, crimson, fire red, firetruck red, etc.
3) describe their skin. is it pale? tan? scarred? smooth? soft? freckled? rough? etc.
4) describe their voice. melodic, soft, gentle, rough, low, dark, husky, scratchy, etc.
5) describe with your senses. what do you hear? smell? see? feel? taste?
describing emotion
*show emotion. tell feeling*
1) instead of saying, 'she was sad' say, 'her lip trembled and her hands started to shake, eyes pooling with tears'
2) and then in that paragraph have thought with it. an entire paragraph with just that will bore your readers. describe what she's thinking, how could he? how could he betray me like this? you cant use the entire time using just actions.
