if you're new to wattpad or just writing in general, then this is the perfect place for you.
1) first things first, have a good cover. i love covers that are very aesthetic and match the title of the story.
2) have a good title. think of something outside the box on this. you don't want something that's like all the other authors, think of something original.
3) descriptions are NOT easy. when you're trying to describe the story, you're itching to spoil the entire plot - don't do that. describe the main part or parts of the plot. describe the characters. some authors don't even have descriptions.
4) start the story with something that will draw your readers in and make them curious to know more. like, the world did not end in a bang, or a whisper, but one scream at a time. you're curious to know where that's gonna go, aren't you?
5) SPACE YOUR FUCKING PARAGRAPHS. PLEASE. It irritates me when authors don't do this because it's so damn long and I get bored really fast and then I forget what im reading and then I forget where im at so I gotta reread basically the entire thing. so for fucks sake, space them.
6) put some authors notes in there, you don't have to every chapter, but it lets the readers know you're friendly and they will prolly follow you.
7) respond to questions readers have either via story or comment. don't make others do it, because they might get it wrong and that will create a shit show.
8) don't complain about not having enough. followers, comments, votes, reads - don't complain about those types of things. especially if ya got 1k by the end of the week. that annoys the shit out of me when authors with high rankings just complain about not having enough, like damn, take a fucking chill pill
9) be creative. you're writing something based from your imagination, the possibilities are ENDLESS. thats your advantage, USE IT!
10) some people say to always begin with the end in mind (flashback to the 7 habits from 6th grade *shivers in disgust*) but it isn't particularly true. yes, you should have an end in mind at some point, but you don't always have to have it at the very beginning. improvise if ya need to.
tell me if this was helpful and thank you to the ones voting and commenting. i love you guys.
