if your genre is romance, this is the perfect place for you because your book revolves around this OTP (one true pairing). here's some tips for writing this. if this isn't a romance, try to find ways to make the relationship needed, see if the romance is needed for the central plot.
1) alright, first of all, make sure your characters have chemistry before the relationship starts. make them have some sort of connection between them, something they both wanna hold on to. something worth fighting for. make sure they have a friendship, some sort of thing that will tie them together. make them seem drawn to each other. why do they attract? what exactly draws them to each other?
2) like I've said before, love at first sight can exist, but the relationship - if you start it too early - will make it seem forced. Do not - I REPEAT, DO NOT - start the relationship too early. It will bore the readers, but also don't start it too late. that will frustrate your readers to no end because this is a romance novel. (there's a little grey area, where you should be) being too late will make it seem like an after thought of the author that they decided to include last minute.
3) find ways of showing, not telling, that they're falling for one another. like, standing closely and protectively to each other. staring for too long, laughing at jokes that weren't funny, playful teasing, spilling each others souls one another. give them a mutual bond of trust.
4) and also find ways by telling but not really telling. come up with a phrase that is repeated until it has romantic feeling behind them. but also give it meaning throughout this process. Hearing characters say, 'I love you' has become so boring. but make sure the other character knows what it means, cause that would be awkward if they didn't.
