THIRD POV

Guinevere bumped down the foggy road. Ian was now in the front seat and (Y/N) was just chilling with dad. "Aloft Elevar." Ian said to a soda can, "Aloft Elevar."

He sighed in defeat, for he was doing this spell for at least 7 minutes and nothing happened. "I can't get this levitation spell to work." he complained. "Maybe I could try something else like Arcane lightning?"

"Yeah, like a level one mage could bust out the hardest spell in the Enchanter's Guidebook." Barley scoffed. "Maybe we'll stick with the easy ones."

"Yeah, well it's not working. Am I saying it wrong?"

"I know enough about spells that you need to speak with your heart's fire to make them work." (Y/N) piped in.

"Yes! (Y/N), I have taught you well." Barley said while high fiving (Y/N).

"My what?"

"Your heart's fire. You must speak with passion. Don't hold back." Barley tried to explain.

"Aloft Elevar!" Ian tried. Still nothing.

"No, like Aloft Elevar!"

"Aloft Elevar!"

"No from your heart's fire!"

"ALOFT ELEVAR!"

"Don't hold back!" (Y/N) shouted, joining in the commotion.

"ALOFT ELEVAR!!"

"HEART'S FIRE!"

"Stop saying 'heart's fire'!" Ian said as he huffed and fell back in his seat, "This just clearly isn't working!"

Ian moved from the passenger's seat and sat nest to (Y/N) in the back. She wrapped her arm around him and he relaxed into her touch.

"Hey." Barley added, "It was a good start."

There was a short pause before Barley announced, "Gather your courage men, and lady. We've arrived. The Manticore's Tavern."

On a hill there was a house-looking thing sitting in the fog. "It really is still here." (Y/N) breathed.

"Yeah." Barley chuckled, "I told you."

They parked the car and unloaded. (Y/N) got the dragon leash and attached it to one of the belt holes on his pants. She dragged him using the belt and marched after her brothers. Ian held his wizard staff, and Barley was being the leader. They approached the doors to the tavern and Barley addressed the group, "First, let me do the talking. Secondly, it's crucial we show the Manticore the respect she deserves, or she will, thirdly, not give us a map to the Phoenix Gem."

"Wait, wait, wait. The map?" Ian questioned, "I thought she had a Phoenix Gem."

"You're so cute. Hear that dad?" Barley chuckled, "He's a smart kid, he just doesn't know how quests work."

"Well is there anything else you're forgetting to tell me?"

"Mmm, no." Barley said with a shrug before opening the doors of the tavern to reveal...

A table with a couple of waiters and waitresses singing happy birthday to a table surrounded by presents an balloons. The three elves looked at the place in utter shock, and even (Y/N) had to push Barley's jaw up so he didn't look like a fish. "Okay, okay, so the tavern changed a little over the years, but the Manticore is still the real deal." he blurted.

The four (well more like three and a half) walked through the restaurant until Barley stopped at a waitress dealing with a check. "Madam." he said, "I request an audience with the Manticore."
