(Y/N)'S POV

The dragon looked at Barely before starting to approach us. "BARLEY RUN!" Ian screeched.

Barley and I wasted no time getting off of that fountain. The dragon started to rapidly gain on us, considering that it's legs were so much larger than ours. "What do you want? The gem?" Barley taunted the dragon.

He reached into his vest pocket and pulled out the orange headlight from Guinevere. He gave it to me because I have a better throwing arm and I threw it into a bush, leading the dragon away from Ian and us. Barley and I quickly changed direction and he reassured Ian that we still had the real Phoenix Gem. The dragon must've figured out that we tricked it because I heard it roar again. Suddenly, a wall of fire came between me and Barley, and Ian. The fire was powerful enough that it threw me back. Well that's gonna leave a bruise.

The dragon started to go after Ian, but then it fell down. I look up to see the Manticore flying around with a really big sword. "The Manticore!" Barely exclaimed before picking me up in an exited hug.

Then as I look closer I saw some blue hair sticking up above the Manticore. "Mom?" I heard Ian say from the other side of the fire.

"It's okay kids. We'll take care of...." I heard our mom call down to us before the Manticore started to lose her balance, "You're tilting! You're tilting! Go see your father!"

"It's okay!" Barley shouted to Ian, "If they stab the beast's core with that sword, the curse will be broken."

"Come on! We don't have much time!" I cried out to my brothers and we met up on the other side of the fire, "Ian, here's your staff back."

Ian grabbed the staff from my hand and set it on the ground, plopping the gem inside of it. "(Y/N), Barley, what I said before, I'm so sorry."

"No time!" I scolded, "The sun's about to set."

Ian took a deep breath, and then chanted the spell, "Only once is all we get, grant me this rebirth. Till tomorrow's sun has set, one day to walk the earth!"

The same blue magic started to spew from the top of Ian's staff, but I heard a large crash come from behind this. Turning around I saw my mom struggling with a sword on the dragon's back. "Mama!" I called, "Are you okay?"

"I'm fine, but hurry! I can't hold this for long!"

I turned back to Ian and saw that the gem was completely out of the staff. The magic started to turn red again, like in Ian's room. This time though, Barley and I stood against Ian, preventing him from slipping. There was a loud explosion-type noise and the gem started to fly out of the staff on it's own. It floated in the air as particles flew together to create dad's shirt. Suddenly there was a rumble from behind us. I saw mom on the ground and the dragon heading toward us.

"Guys!" she cried, "It's coming back!"

Barley and I looked at each other and nodded, "We'll go distract it."

"What?" Ian called as we started to walk to the dragon, "No! If you do that you'll miss dad!"

"It's okay."

"Say hi to dad for us."

"No. You guys go and say goodbye."

"What?"

"I had people who looked out for me. People who pushed me to be more than I ever thought I could be. I never had a dad, but I always had you guys." Ian sighed as he looked at us. Before we could argue he ran toward the dragon with the wizard staff.

I turned back to dad and sighed. I'd never forgive myself if Ian didn't get to meet his dad. I shook my head and patted Barley on the shoulder, "Barley, tell dad that I love him. I'm gonna go get Ian."
