THIRD POV

The gas container filled up and Ian checked his watch once again. Barley still hadn't come back from the bathroom. "What is taking you so long?" Ian sighed.

Suddenly a very feisty voice spat, "Who you calling whimsical?"

(Y/N) looked down at Ian and suddenly they knew exactly where Barley was. Ian gazed from behind the pump and saw Barley arguing with two sprites.

"Woah, whoa, woah!" Barley tried to reason.

"You've got a lot of nerve-"

"I'm just saying sprites used to fly around spreading delight. That's a good thing!"

"Sprites can't fly!"

"Well, your wings don't work 'cause you stopped using them."

"You calling me lazy?" the sprite asked squaring up.

"No, no, no. Not you. Your ancestors."

"What did you say about my ancestors?"

"I didn't man lazy....." Barley started before Ian scooped him up.

"I'm sorry, very sorry." he squeaked, "He's sorry too. You don't need to fly. Who needs to fly? I mean you got those great bikes."

"What are you doing?" Barley scolded Ian, "I was just discussing history."

"Barley, I'm trying to take care of you and dad-"

"What about (Y/N)?"

"She's fine. But you're not making it any easier. Dad, come on!" Ian pulled the leash, hoping their dad would follow, but as their dad turned around, he knocked into one of the bikes causing it to fall down. That bike crashed onto the next one and it caused a domino affect of the bikes. The sprites all gathered, banging on the door. The sprite outside broke a bottle and screeched, "You're dead!"

"Oh, no."

"Ian. Stop standing there and run!" (Y/N) shouted and Ian took off back towards the van.

"We're dead! We're dead! We're dead!" Ian panted as he ran.

"Relax." Barley said, "They won't be able to lift those bikes."

The revving of engines broke their train of thought, "They are strong." (Y/N) exclaimed dumbfounded.

"We're gonna die! We're gonna die! We're gonna die!" Ian panicked.

Barley leaped out of Ian't pocket onto the door handle and started to jump. When the handle wasn't opening, he shouted "It's locked"

"What? Where are the keys?" (Y/N) said, also jumping out of Ian's hair and onto the door. The two looked inside and saw the keys dangling from the lock cylinder. They could hear the bikes fast approaching as Barley lifted (Y/N) through the crack in the window. She grabbed onto the lock and started to pull.

"Come on (Y/N)" the brothers cheered. (Y/N) got the lock to open Ian shoved himself, dad and Barley into the car.

"DRIVE!" he shouted, but when he looked over, he saw Barley reaching for the steering wheel and not even coming close, "No. Nonononononono. No way."

"You're gonna have to!"

Ian took a deep breath before sliding into the driver's seat. The bikes rounded the corner and their headlights blinded the three. Ian strapped in his seat belt and turned the key. "Oh come on! Why won't it start?" he strained as he struggled to start the car.

"There's a sweet spot! Not in the middle, not quite at the end." Barley instructed.

"Come on. Come on. Come on." Ian struggled, still not being able to start the van, "Come on GUINEVERE!"

Ian hit the sweet spot and the van roared to life, "Put it in 'o' for 'onward'!" Barely shouted.

Ian switched to 'o' and floored the gas pedal, nearly missing the bikes. The bikes came up on either side of the van, and one of the sprites swung something, causing the driver's side window do break.

"DRIVE!" Barely screamed. Ian swerved onto the ramp to go to the highway.

"Okay." (Y/N) said in a calming tone, "You're gonna have to merge."

Ian's grip on the steering wheel tightened and he let out a little whimper. As he started to go onto the highway, a truck blared it's horn. "Speed up." Barley instructed.

"I can't do this." Ian said as he was panicking.

"Yes you can!" Barely encouraged.

"I'm not ready!"

"You'll never be ready!" (Y/N) reprimanded, "NOW MERGE!"

Ian screamed and stepped on the gas even more, if that was even possible. Ian managed to get out onto the road without hitting the truck. "Nice job!" his older siblings praised.

Ian looked out the rear view mirror and saw the sprites on bikes were still hot on their tail. They caught up to the van and hit it with a ball on a chain. Barley leaped off of Ian's shoulder and went to the window, "Hey. Don't hit Gwinny!" he threatened.

"Barley!"

"Ian! Look at the road! What is it with the two of you idiots and not looking at the road."

When Ian turned his attention back at the road, he realized that the cars were slowing down. "Get around them." Barley commanded.

"They're not letting me in!"

"Signal!" (Y/N) directed.

Ian fumbled around trying to find a turn signal, but there was no luck. "You don't have a signaler!"

"Stick your arm straight out the window to signal left."

When Ian did, the sprites caught up and wrapped a chain around his arm, allowing them to get closer. (Y/N) and Barely surveyed the surroundings before both of them went out to deal with the chain.

"What are you two doing? Get back in here."

"Just keep driving!"

The sprites pulled the chain and drifted into another lane. There was a truck between the bike and Guinevere, and the chain was about to go in the middle. (Y/N) and Barley managed to get the chain undone right before it came in contact with the truck. The chain went back and wrapped around the bike's wheel, causing it to spin off of the highway.

"The mountains are North!" Barley directed.

"You need to get all the way over!" (Y/N) said as she looked at the exit sign. Ian gripped the steering wheel harder and got into the next lane over. Suddenly their dad stumbled into the front, and his top half flopped out the window.

"What the-" the lead sprite exclaimed as it saw the top half of their dad out the window looking as if he was waving, "Oh it is on Shades! GET 'EM!"

Ian shoved their dad back into the back, but then realized that another bike full of sprites was approaching. This bike slammed onto the van and the sprites leaped through the window. Two sprites had started a fight with Barley and (Y/N), but the rest attacked Ian's face. "Ian!" (Y/N) shouted, "Stay focused!"

"I can't!"

"You have to focus or we're all dead!" Barley screamed as a sprite was trying tot attack him with the seat belt, "Just stay cool."

"Cool...." Ian thought before pressing the button to the air conditioning. The blast of the air conditioning blew all of the sprites off of Ian's head, and out the window. Barley held onto a seat belt, but (Y/N) wasn't so lucky. As she started to fly out the window, she grabbed onto Ian's ear. "Way to go Guinevere!" Barley cheered.

(Y/N)'s grip on Ian's ear slipped and she started to fly out  of the window as well. "GUYS!"

"Oh my gosh." Ian breathed as he snatched (Y/N) out of the air.

The exit to the north came into view and Barley's eyes widened. "We're not gonna make it!"

Ian grunted, but then turned the steering wheel and stuck his hand straight out the window. The tires squealed as he veered into the lanes. He went a little too fast, and jumped a couple of barrels. Nevertheless, the van made it onto the exit, and the trio continued on their quest.
