(Y/N)'S POV
I stayed awake with Barley all night, switching drivers so the other could get a little nap in. We were at these giant beanstalk-like things when the sun started to shine above the mountains. "We're heading on a quest!" Barley sung out, "Our father we must retrieve! The Lightfoot siblings can't be stopped! Something, something that rhymes with retrieve!"
I heard Ian groan, trying not to wake up to Barley's horrid singing, but failing miserably. We hit a pretty big bump and Ian flew from his resting spot. Dad flung forward and tripped onto Ian. I giggled at the funny sight and dad started to feel around for us. "We're still here." Ian mumbled, sleep still visible in his voice.
Dad moved to the front and touched around for Barley and I. "Good morning to thee, dear Lightfoot men." Barley bellowed, "Welcome to the Path of Peril."
"He's been like this all night." I whispered over to Ian with a smirk.
"It's not much of a path." Ian said.
"Well, you know, they never really developed around here." Barley shot back, "So heads up, we could run into anything. A centicore, wolf dragon, gelatinous cube."
"Okay, what is a gelatinous cube?"
"Oh, it's a giant green cube that instantly disintegrates all that it touches."
"We're not gonna run into a....." I started but then I noticed that the road went missing, "GUYS! ROAD! STOP!"
Us three screamed as Barley slammed the breaks hard. Guinevere stopped just as her front part started to hang over the edge of the cliff. We all breathed a sigh of relief as Barley started to back up the van. We got out of the van, and approached the edge. "What is this?" Ian asked.
Barley looked over the edge and than concluded, "A bottomless pit. Whatever falls in there falls forever."
I looked over the edge and kicked a nearby rock into the pit. I waited a couple seconds, but I still didn't hear the rock hit a bottom yet. Both brothers were looking into the pit, but then Dad started to walk in between them. "Dad!" I shouted.
Dad continued to walk, but Ian grabbed his top part and Barley, the bottom. We all sighed in relief as I walked dad over to the van and locked him in.
"Ian, (Y/N), check it out!" Barley called to us, "It's an ancient drawbridge. We lower that bad boy and we are on our way to Raven's Point. Look around for a lever."
The boys were looking for the lever around us, but since I'm the smart one, I looked on the other side. What was there? A lever. "I found the lever."
"Where?"
"On the other side." I said as I pointed to a very rusty looking lever.
"Okay, I got this." Ian breathed as he got his staff ready, "Aloft Elevar!"
A small blast of blue energy shot out from the top of the staff and......... only went about halfway to the other side of the pit. I tried to hold in a giggle, but Barley burst out laughing. "You can't cast a levitation spell on something that far away."
"Even I know that!" I butted in. I may not know much, but I've played Quests of Yore with Barley enough to know some stuff about the spells.
"It only has like a 15 meter enchanting radius. Dad, can you believe this guy?" Barley snickered, "What we need is a Trust Bridge. It's a spell that creates a magical bridge you can walk on. Just say 'Bridgrigar Invisia.'"
"B-Bridgrigar Invisia." Ian spoke aloud and a little ball of blue shone in the top of the staff, "It didn't work."
"No, the spell's still going. You won't know if your bridge worked untill you step on it."
