Chapter 34 - Fixing the Future

Timeline B

A beaten and bruised Danny sat on the floor of the living room in the empty house that belonged to Lieutenant Kayleigh Rhodes. Cooper, Mollie, and Javi sat next to the other teenager while Kayleigh and Drew stood on either side of the sitting group of heroes watching as the Future Cooper paced back and forth in front of the group of six. He was whispering to himself, scratching his head viciously.

"So, wanna explain everything now?" Drew asked, causing the Future Cooper to look over at them.

"If I do, I don't know what could happen." Future Cooper said. "The world could implode."

"Well I see no reason to trust someone who comes from the future but can't explain anything." Kayleigh said, crossing her arms over her chest.

"Earlier you mentioned a Higher Being. What were you talking about?" Mollie spoke up.

"Shit. Alright. Alright. I'm just gonna say it all. Believe what you want, but I lived it." Future Cooper said, taking a deep breath.

"The moment I showed up, you two and me," Future Cooper said, pointing at the Cooper that was in front of him, "ended up going to the address Jade texted. Going there caused a chain reaction that brought along the end of the world. Professor Romero is evil. He turns into this weird creature that can someone minions." Future Cooper said.

"The sixth subject." Drew muttered. "The one that attacked me in the city." he and Kayleigh looked at each other and then back at Future Cooper.

"He's that way because of the Higher Being. Who gave him powers along with us. It's all part of some plan to take control of us and turn us into powered generals for his world domination plan."

"Real original." Danny whispered. Mollie smirked and looked over at Javi, whose eyes were wide and was fully drawn into the retelling of future events.

"Going to that apartment caused us to lose Javi. The Higher Being has Sophie and Johnny under his control along with Romero. At some point in time he finds Jade, kidnaps her, and finds a way to turn her against us too. She attacked Mollie when we went, and Sophie was able to turn Javi to stone." Future Cooper explained.

"Stone?" Javi asked, suddenly snapped out of his awe. "Wait. I died?!"

"No. Not died. Just. Froze. Into a statue." Future Cooper said, trying to put it easily.

"Sounds like death." Javi said.

"We saved him right?" Mollie asked.

"No. Up until I left he was still stone. The story isn't done though. Mollie and I, my Mollie, got out of there and went looking for Danny. He was at the school where the others were already there and we all fought." Future Cooper said, his voice becoming soft and his eyes falling to the floor. "Danny was turned to stone and smashed."

"So I died..." Danny whispered.

"Sounds like death." Javi repeated himself, patting Danny on the shoulder.

"After that my Mollie and I hid with Romero who was let go by this Higher Being. He found a way for me to go back in time if I ran fast enough. So I did. And I came here, to stop the two of you from being lost. Because without you two, Jade, Johnny, Sophie, and the Being took over the world. Some dude Graham was the only one who really stood up to him, but even then he was in hiding." Future Cooper finished.

"Graham." Kayleigh said, shaking her head. "Of course he stood a chance."

"You don't think we need his help do you?" Drew asked, looking over at her.

Timeline A

The Higher Being summoned lightning down, striking multiple soldiers in Director Graham's army. People screamed as they were struck down by the elemental powers being rained down on them. Mollie watched in horror as any who tried to advance would fall. Among them was Dylan Storm, her old friend Danny's father. His body rolled across the dirt, coming to a stop at the feet of the Higher Being.

"A fight like this, will be over within seconds." the Higher Being said with a smirk. Another bullet was fired at him, but he easily avoided it, but it managed to hit something. He looked back to see one of his generals, Sophie, had been struck in the stomach. Sophie struggled to react as she began to bleed, and fell onto her side, wrapping her arms around herself.

"All you freaks need to die!" Director Graham shouted, firing more shots at the Higher Being, who managed to avoid each one. He slowly began to approach Director Graham, who was standing by himself since his army was easily taken down. The Higher Being reached him and grabbed the man by the throat, lifting him into the air with ease. He began squeezing, making the pressure on Graham's throat tighter and tighter, to the point where he could even breath. One last squeeze caused the Director's neck to snap, taking his life easily.

"Now, it's your turn." the Higher Being said with a smirk, turning to look at Mollie who stood there, frozen, and unsure of what to do.

"No!" Romero shouted, surprising the Higher Being and tackling him to the ground. Using the black magic staff, Romero slammed it down into piercing the skin of the otherworldly creature.

"No...no..." the Higher Being whispered, seeing the spot where he was stabbed shining bright, as his body began to glow. Mollie's eyes went wide as the Higher Being exploded, sending out an atomic explosion, destroying Romero who was right on top of him.

"Cooper, fix this." Mollie said to herself as the atomic explosion extended out to her.

Javi shot fire out of his hands, right into Jade's chest. The female villain went crashing into an iceberg mountain that she had reacted to catch her. It began to help cool the burns created by Javi, who was right back on the attack. He reached into the iceberg and pulled her out, throwing her onto the ice. He slammed his fists onto the ground, sending out a heatwave that hit Jade, and also began to melt the floor they were on. He looked up and saw a large cloud of smoke coming towards the two of them. His eyes went wide as he ran at Jade, as both were consumed by the atomic explosion.
