I get dressed and climb down the stairs. As I walk towards the living room, dad, Stefan and Declan are seated on the couch and having a hearty laugh. Mom is leaning on the kitchen's door and smiling. I walk towards her.
"Morning sweetie" she says.
"Morning mom" I say with a smile.
"Happy marriage anniversary mom" I say pulling her into a tight hug.
"Thank you, sweetie" she says pulling away.
I walk into the kitchen and start preparing lunch. I set the table, while mom calls dad, Declan and Stefan. We sit down and have our lunch. We talk while eating and dad is engaged in talk with Declan.
"How's your college going siso?" Declan asks.
"Oh! brilliant" I say.
He eyes me with curiosity and I simply smile. We finish the entire lunch and while I clean the table and kitchen counter and mom loads the dishwasher.
"Declan, you are staying back for dinner right?" mom asks.
"Sure" he replies smiling.
"Shall we go and sit outside?" I ask Declan.
"Sure" he says.
We walk outside and finally Declan turns around to look at me.
"I have something to tell you" I say looking at him.
"What is it, siso?" he asks.
"We talked" I say.
"You, what?" he asks again.
"Cedric and I talked" I say.
"Really? that's great" he says looking at me.
"Yes, he asked if we could talk and I agreed" I say.
"Tell me everything" he says looking excited.
I tell him everything, the way I cried and how he said that he was really sorry. By the time I finish recalling the event, Declan's mouth is slightly open and he carries a surprised look.
"You should take it very normally and go with the flow" he finally says.
"I don't know, I'm so confused" I say.
"Think about it and since you have sorted it out, give yourself some time and don't jump into any conclusion right away" he says.
"Okay" I say and we walk back inside.
I bake a cake and prepare dinner while mom and dad go to get dressed. We cut the cake and have our dinner. I clean the table and the kitchen counter and load the dishwasher. We sit on the couch and talk. It turned out to be a great day.
"I think I'll better get going" Declan says getting up.
"Thanks for coming" mom says getting up and giving him a tight hug.
"Anytime aunt Cassie" he says smiling down at her.
"Thank you for joining us" dad says extending his hand.
"My pleasure, uncle" he says.
Stefan and Declan shake their hand and I walk him outside.
"I am always there for you. You know that right siso" he says.
"I know" I say and he pulls me into half hug.
"Call me if you need me" he says.
"Okay, sure" I say smiling and he returns my smile.
He gets into his car, a dark gray Mercedes-AMG GT and I open the gate and he drives away waving his hand. I close the gate and walk inside and lock the door. I greet mom and dad goodnight and climb the stairs. I walk into my room and shut the door.
I haven't touched my phone the whole day, so I grab it and open Instagram. Declan has uploaded a photo and I reply with a like. I see a new follow request and surprisingly, it turns out to be from Cedric. I immediately confirm it and send a request back. He immediately accepts it.
I send him a text saying "Hi"
Before I decide against it, he replies with "Hey"
My heart leaps and I text him asking how was his day. He replies saying it was good and asks me how my day was. I reply saying it was great. We chat for a little while until he says he has to go and I reply saying okay.
I smile at myself seeing this new beginning and the way Cedric is making a move but I will go with the flow like Declan said. I change and lie down on my bed and roll over into a deep sleep.
