Scarlette looks quite nervous as we drive into the parking lot the next day. I haven't told her what exactly Alvin told me but I have told her that there is a huge surprise for her.
"Chari, what exactly is the surprise?" she asks me for the tenth time.
"Essie, a surprise is a surprise" I reply smiling at her.
As we drive further into the parking lot, Alvin's car is already parked but he is nowhere to be seen. I think he is waiting for Scarlette. I see that Cedric is standing in front of his car.
"Isn't that Cedric?" Scarlette asks following my look.
"Yes" I reply.
"He hasn't changed much" she says as I park my car.
We get out and Cedric walks towards us.
"Hi Cedric" Scarlette says smiling at him.
Cedric looks at her for a while unable to recognize her.
"I am Charlotte's best friend" she says trying to give a clue.
"Scarlette, is it?" he says finally.
"Yes" she says smiling.
"You had moved to London, right?" he asks.
"Yes, I just came back to California a week ago" she replies.
"Hi Charlotte" he says smiling at me.
"Hi Cedric" I say returning his smile.
"Thank you for sending me your work's picture" he says.
"Anytime" I say smiling.
He smiles in return. I check the time. Alvin must be waiting for Scarlette, so we walk towards the main building and climb the stairs. We pass by an empty class and I gesture Scarlette to go in.
Scarlette's POV
As I enter the dark classroom, it seems empty. I really don't know why exactly Charlotte asked me to enter an empty classroom. Someone enters the class and closes the door. I start feeling nervous.
"You came" someone says and I immediately recognize that voice belongs to Alvin.
He turns on the light as I turn around to face him. All the tables are moved aside and only one table is left in the middle of the class.
"May I?" Alvin asks taking my hand.
"Sure" I reply and walk with him towards the table.
He takes a small box from the table and kneels down on one knee and opens the box. It contains a beautiful square locket decorated with emerald.
"This might look and sound stupid but I have never met a more beautiful girl than you. I felt a strange connection with you the first day I saw you. Ever since I am not able to think of anything else apart from you" he says and takes a deep breathe.
"I don't remember falling for someone ever but I think I have fallen for you Scarlette" he says.
"Will you be my girlfriend?" he finally asks.
"Yes" I reply and tears roll down my cheeks.
He stands up and hands me over the small box.
Alvin's POV
Tears are rolling down her beautiful face and I am mesmerized by her beauty and I can't believe this beautiful girl has just accepted my proposal. I will surely thank Charlotte for encouraging me.
"Shall we go?" I ask taking her hand.
"Yes" she says and I open the door and we walk out of the empty classroom.
