This one is in general, not just on Wattpad.

Often the Wattpad guys ask the girls out on a date and keep the location or activity a secret.

Now, this might differ from girl to girl, but I would be uncomfortable.

It's a guy they don't necessarily know all too well, taking them somewhere mysterious. No thank you.

Maybe if I'm dating the guy and we've been together for a while, but a firat date? I think not.

Worse are those where they're just friends and the guy insits that they hang out, but doesn't reveal the location. He doesn't tell the girl he intends for it to be a date, nor does he find out whether she's interested in him or not. Also, she doesn't really have a choice.

You've seen those, right? The girl is practically forced to go on this 'date' with him? And though they often start out by being uncomfortable, they oddly always end in a kiss.

Again, maybe some other girls would be fine with that, because hey, it's a friend, but I would be uncomfortable and you know why I say that? Because I've experienced this.

Story time:
So, back in my first year of university I met this one guy in class and we became the best of friends. He introduced me to one of his high school friends and that guy and I also developed a friendship.

I am completely dense when it comes to noticing that a guy likes me, because if I think back on it now, I can see how many signs I missed, but whatever.

So, near the end of the end of year exams, he asked me what plans I have for about a week later. I say nothing and he's like okay great, keep it open, we're hanging out that day.

He can be a bit pushy in that sense, but it's cool, because we usually had fun hanging out, so I agree.

He didn't want to tell me we're going and just said 'wear whatever' when I asked about that, so the day came and I dressed as casually as I could without looking like a hobo, just to prove a point.

My phone rings by the time he said he's coming to pick me up and he apologizes profusely, because he got caught in traffic. He said he's calling me, so that it at least feels like he's on time.

He gets here and climbs out of the car with a flower and a Bar One (my favourite) and this is where my mind starts racing. I've driven all through town with him countless times, but I felt SO UNCOMFORTABLE.

So, we go and get pizza (which is dodgy, because I'm a very picky eater and he has never asked me about my favourite pizza) and we drive to the botanical gardens. When we get there he takes out a guitar...I DIDN'T EVEN KNOW HE COULD PLAY THE GUITAR!!

We set up the picnic and I literally sit as far away from him on the blanket as possible. Ever the gentleman he opens the pizza (he asked my best friend which one I preferred) and poured me some juice and we sat talking.

We've been friends for a few months and here he was asking me a bunch of first date questions. I had a good time, because we always did, but I was still quite uncomfortable.

We were talking so much that by the time we had to go, he didn't even take out the guitar and I have to admit, I was relieved.

On the way back, I mentioned that I didn't know he played the guitar and he's like 'No, I actually don't. I had my friend give me lessons so that I could play 'This Town' for you. (During that time, that was my favourite song and it's quite cute)

He drops me off and I solidly ignore him for like a week (I am really ashamed that I did this, because I could have been more mature about it, but I was freaking out). A week later was our mutual friend's birthday and the guy messaged me about something else. He then asks me why I've been weird and I tell him that I was uncomfortable because it felt like a date and he admits that it was the plan.

I got upset because he didn't tell me what his intentions were, nor did he find out how I felt. We were really good friends, but I've never seen him as anything more than that.

That date ruined our friendship, because when we got back to Varsity after the holidays, I was fine, but he made things so awkward. I regret how everything turned out, but I don't regret stopping it. I still don't think anything would've happened between us.

This is not what happens in Wattpad stories though, but it could. The guys sometimes just assume their friend or acquaintance is up to it and doesn't consider her feelings.

I actually want to see something like this happening in a Wattpad story to just show reality a bit and I might actually write it into one of my future stories.

I don't know if you've ever thought about it or seen it too...but yeah.
