Another thing on the lengthening list of things I dislike on Wattpad is when the story is too descriptive.
You know the one where it takes ten paragraphs to describe the table. By then end I know where the wood was imported from, how and when it gave the main character a splinter as well as their favourite memory with the table, but nothing about the story.
Descriptions are great, but there is a point where it's just TOO MUCH!
Like: His eyes were breathtakingly beautiful, capturing my attention with its brilliant blue, halfway om the spectrum between light and dark. They are absolutely mesmerizing, drawing me into their depths. Willing me to swim or to drown. As a perfect smile forms on his plump pink lips, a star is taken out of space and placed in the pools of blue, shining with great happiness.
I started reading this one book and stopped halfway through chapter 2. A lot of people love it, but by the end of the first chapter I couldn't tell what the book was about, because the main character took pages and pages describing her feelings and adding analogies to those.
In short, I was so caught up in trying to decifer the descriptions that I missed the plot.
So before going on describing the texture of her breakfast and the depth of the scribble on the desk of the classroom, stop and think whether it is really necessary and if you would have read it like that.
