Some younger authors try their hand at writing older characters that work or that are in university.
That's great and all, but it is annoying to see the characters acting like middle-school girls. Especially if they are in their mid to late twenties!!
Let's focus on people that work already, because students are a specie of their own.
So, if you work, you obviously have colleagues that you like and dislike and I guess in extreme cases one freaking childish person might sabotage the other (but there is usually a pretty big reason).
Now this person has done something terrible and the character goes and plots revenge. What even?
Just go and get evidence and show it to HR or your boss. No need to take it in your own hands, because you might be caught out and 'punished'.
Also, you can't just take random days off all the time. After your fifth random 'sick day' in a fee weeks, someone will get suspicious and you'll have to show them a doctor's note or something. Besides, what type of illness do you have that appears one morning and goes away the next? When I get sick it's weeks on end, so if the boss or anyone is smart enough, they can put two and two together.
Vacations also need to be planned. Very few businesses will just allow you to tell them today that your putting in a week plus of leave. At the place my dad works, they plan their leave almost a year in advance, but obviously if there's and emergency it can be changed.
I also get that people gossip in real life (office gossip is a thing) and office romances happen, but on Wattpad that is all that happens. Do these people even work?
Between hooking up with the boss in his office, plotting revenge against the girl that sabotaged you (for who knows what reason) and all the gossip between the coworkers, it is a miracle that these companies don't go bankrupt.
Lastly...I am also tired of people applying for certain jobs without a degree or diploma.
Newsflash! HR hires people, so they will definitely not choose the unqualified girl over one with a degree, just because the CEO can't keep it in his pants.
(And PS, I don't know how it works in other countries, but in South Africa a degree is at least 3 years... That means that you won't be able to start working until you're at least 22 and some careers have articles you have to complete that also is about 3 years. I'm looking at you, lawyers under thirty with all these years of experience!)
