Dear Wattpad characters that get onto a horse for the first time and gallop away, that's unrealistic! Sincerely, reality.
Oh my gosh, I can rant so much about this.
Horse riding is more than just getting into the saddle and shouting 'ha-yah'. Newsflash, not all horses are trained the same, so for instance, my horses won't react to that command.
It's about balance and moving with the horse. Understanding how to steer and so on and so forth.
Also, Miss Throw on a Saddle and Ride, you'd have to get the stirrups adjusted and have someone tell you to keep your heels down (or you can go bye byr birdie) and trust me, the 'dangerous stallion that throws everyone off' won't just be nice because 'he bonded with you in five seconds'.
Honestly? That stallion will sense your lack of knowledge and if he really throws everyone off (I'm not even going to go into this) he WILL throw you off as well.
I have so many problems with horses in stories on Wattpad.
Real horses can be skittish and you generally don't make unnecessarily loud noises or sudden movements around them. You don't just go and stroke him, you let him smell you first (my horses might just bite in a situation like that) and horses generally don't listen to just anyone.
My horses, for example, listen to my dad and I. Anyone else might as well not exist and they get nothing done if they try to ride them.
I'm not even going to spend more time arguing about this, just please do research before you add horses to your story.
