Usually the main girl doesn't have a boyfriend in the beginning of the book, because where is the story in that?

If she does, he ends up cheating on her or even if she just tells the story about her ex.

Newsflash! NOT EVERY BREAKUP IS CAUSED BY UNFAITHFULNESS!!

I actually read a story once where the girl falls out of love with her boyfriend and they broke up because of that and only after that did she really get close with the actual main guy.

Needless to say, I was impressed.

People break up for various reasons. It might be that they fall out of love, that they realize they aren't that compatible, parts of the other person's personality clashes badly with yours, they manipulate you emotionally, etc...yet Wattpad authors always go with cheating and abusing (not or, and!!).

Why?

Do you want to make the ex the villain? And then worst of all, the guy who cheated comes back and is upset with HER? Like bro, you left!!
