Richie's POV

I woke up in a daze, I realized my alarm was beeping so I rolled over turning it off, 12:40pm, oh yeah I'm meeting the others at the quarry. I sit up rubbing my eyes under my glasses. I get out of bed and head to the door and open it. Wait do I need my towel? I think about it for a second before deciding to leave it. I'm not in the mood to swim today. I leave my room closing the door behind me. I head downstairs telling my mum I'm going to the quarry and that I'll be back in time for tea. I shout bye to her before leaving through the front door.

I grab my bike getting on it and pedalling away in the direction of the quarry. When I get there I leave my bike in the same place I did yesterday, but instead of Eddie's bike being there, the other losers bikes are there.

I start making my way through the wood, pushing my worry for Eddie to the back of my mind, I'm probably fretting over nothing. I'll call him when I get back to make sure he's alright in any case. I reach the other side and see everyone there waiting for me.

"Sup losers." I say walking up to them plastering a smile on my face. They're all standing near the edge already undressesd down to their pants (and bra for Bev), except for Stan who was still fully dressed holding a bird book.

"Hey Richie." They all say turning to face me.

"Stan are you not swimming?" I ask Stan looking over at him.

"No, I was just going to sit and read my book, don't feel like swimming today." Stan replied looking at me and briefly glancing over at Bill.

"Well lucky for you, I don't feel like swimming today either so you get to enjoy my company." I say smirking at him.

"Oh lucky me." Stan says while rolling his eyes.

"Alright well are we jumping in now Richie's here?" Bev asked looking round the group.

"Yeah let's go." Mike said enthusiastically looking back at the lake.

Mike then jumped into the lake followed by Bev, then Ben and finally Bill.

"Come on Stan the man, let's go!" I say ushering him to follow me as I turn to the path that leads down to the edge of the lake. I hear him sigh as he joins me at my side and we make our way down. When we get there, Stan sits cross-legged facing the lake a few feet away from the edge. I follow and sit next to him making sure to leave a gap between us.

He starts reading his book while I look out at the others in the lake, I zone out and start thinking about Eddie, I wish I knew if he was alright, I hate not knowing. I continue thinking about him as a few minutes pass by. Suddenly I feel someone nudging my arm, I look over and see Stan facing me with his book closed. He retracts his hand from my arm and places it on his book.

"Are you okay?" Stan asks sounding slighty concerned.

"Yeah, I'm fine. Why?" I reply in a monotone voice.

"You were zoning out, I realised you hadn't said anything for awhile, which you never do. So I said your name a few times and I guess you couldn't here me so I nudged your arm." he explained, with a worried expression on his face.

"Oh yeah, sorry I was just thinking about something. I'm fine though." I said trying to reasure him.

"What were you thinking about?" Stan asked with a more calm expression but still sounding concerned.

"Nothing really. It's fine, don't worry." I said looking down at my lap.

"It's not nothing, you looked upset." he said turning his body to face me better. "You can tell me, I won't judge or tell anyone if you don't want me to."

I looked up at him and saw he meant it, I gave in and turned to face him. "I was just thinking about Eddie."

"What about Eddie?" he asked curiously still looking at me.

"Well he stayed the night and this morning he was meant to be home at 12pm, but we got caught up doing something and lost track of time. He looked down at his watch and realised it was 11:50, so he only had 10 minutes to get home. Then he rushed out of my house and I don't know if he got home on time." I said looking down at my lap briefly glancing up at Stan who was listening intently.

"Okay. So you're worried about Eddie and if he got home on time?" he questioned to which I nodded my head in agreement. "Well I'm sure he's fine and if there is something wrong, I'm sure he'll call and tell you since you two are so close." He said in a reassuring way.

"Yeah, your right, I'm probably just overthinking it." I say looking up at him. "I just worry about him, you know?."

"Yeah I know you do." Stan said nodding his head. "Is there a reason why you think about him and worry so much for him?" he asked in a way like he already knew the answer.

"Well he's my best friend and I care about him." I say not understanding what he's trying to get at.

"Yeah I know, but is there another reason?" Stan inquires looking at me as if trying to find a way to get the answer out. I look down then back up at him not knowing what to say. Lucky for me as if planned, we hear the others getting out of the lake and making their way over to us, interupting our conversation. Thankfully.

"Hey guys, did you have fun, 'cause me and Stan had a blast over here." I quickly say trying to sound enthusiastic while standing up.

"Yeah we played chicken, me and Ben coming out victorious!" Bev said smiling and laughing a bit as she draped an arm over Ben's shoulders pulling him over to her, which made his cheeks turn red. As I congratulated them, Bill went over to Stan sitting next to him and pulling his attention away from me.

"What time is it?" Mike asked looking at me.

"It's 1:50pm." I respond, looking down at my watch.

"Well I don't have to be back until 4pm for tea, so I can stay out a bit longer." Ben said looking round the group to which everyone nodded their heads agreeing they don't have to be back home until 4pm as well.

"Alright s-so how about we d-dry off and get ch-changed and talk until we h-have to go home." Bill said while getting up and going over to his clothes. Everyone agreed and followed bill drying themselves with the towels they brought and getting changed. When everyone was fully dressed we all sat around in a circle talking about random things and when it turned 3:30pm, we got up and made our way through the wood to our bikes getting on them. We all said our goodbyes to one another and split off in different directions making our way home.

Bev and Ben went one way, Mike and Stan in another direction and lastly me and Bill went off together to our houses which weren't too far from one another. We got to my house first so both me and Bill stopped in front of my house.

"So w-what were y-you and Stan t-talking about b-before we all came o-over?" Bill asked looking over at me while I got off my bike and stood next to it.

"Nothing really, I was just annoying him as usual." I say trying to avoid another serious conversation.

"A-are you sure? It l-looked like it w-was something." he said using the same tactic Stan had used before to try and get me to open up.

"Yeah I'm sure. Don't worry. We were just talking." I say trying to defuse the situation currently unfolding. "Anyway, I'll see you later, don't want to be late for tea." I rushed out.

"Okay s-sure, I-i'll see you l-later." Bill said still sounding unsure but moving on from it. He waved goodbye which I returned as he started pedaling away to his house.

As soon as I couldn't see him anymore I sighed in relief and started making my way towards my house, I leant my bike against the wall and went over to the front door opening it an closing it again behind me.
