Richie's POV
My eyes open to see Eddie lying in front of me, I reach behind me to grab my glasses off the bedside table and put them on. When I turn back to Eddie I can now clearly see him, I scan his face and notice that he has a slightly nervous expression that he's trying to hide.
I move closer to him and put my hand on his shoulder while looking into his eyes.
"Are you alright?" I ask sounding worried.
"Yeah, I'm fine." He says, briefly looking away from me.
I think about what could be bothering him then I remember yesterday. He's probably nervous about the conversation we need to have today about Sonia. I pull him closer and wrap my arms around him in a comforting way.
"I know it'll be hard for you having to tell me about it all, but I do need to know. You don't need to go into full detail if you don't want to, I just want to know how she treats you so I can find a way to help you." I softly say, gently rubbing his back to keep him calm.
He then moves back a bit so that he can look up at me and so that I can see his face. I notice his eyes are starting to water but he's got a small smile.
"Thanks Richie." he says in a small voice before he buries his face in my chest. I hold him tighter and bury my face in his hair. We lie like that for awhile before I notice how empty my stomach feels.
"I'm starving. Are you?" I say dragging out my words and looking down at him. I hear Eddie chuckle into my chest before he moves his head back and looks up at me with a smile covering his face.
"Yeah, do you want to go make breakfast?" He asks in giddy tone.
"Yes, let's go!" I eagerly say jumping up out of bed and pulling Eddie with me. I grab a hold of his hands and drag him out of his room and down the stairs to the kitchen all while he's giggling in an adorable way.
When we get to the kitchen I let go of his hands and follow him as he goes to his cupboard.
"Alright, do you want toast or Cheerios?" he asks in a happy voice, looking over at me with the cupboard open.
"Cheerios!" I exclaim which awards me another chuckle out of Eddie. He grabs the box and puts it on the side as he goes over to the fridge to get the milk. When he's made two bowls for the both of us and has put everything away we go into the dining room to have them.
I'm glad that I'm able to distract Eddie for awhile before we have the conversation about his mum which I know is going to upset him. Afterwards I'll try and cheer him up and get his mind off of it. I mean she's not back for another two days, so at least we don't have to deal with it all at once. I just want Eddie to be happy.
When we finish breakfast we take our bowls into the kitchen and wash them up before going into the living room.
We sit in the same spots we were in yesterday and face each other.
Eddie's POV
I look up at Richie who's already looking at me. I then tell him about how my mum has been after the whole gazebo confrontation.
I don't go into full detail because I don't want to relive any of it, but I summarise everything.
The last two things I tell him are when she hit me for being five minutes late, to which he figures out that's why I said I couldn't hang out with him the next day, and when she ragged my arm about when she woke me up before she left.
By the end of it I had tears streaming down my face and Richie had a few on his cheeks as well. Richie pulled me into him and wrapped his long arms around me while I clung on to his shirt and wept into his chest. I could feel him gently stroking my back which calmed me down a bit.
Now that I've told him everything I feel like there's been a weight lifted off of me. It's not just me that knows and it's freeing in a way like I don't have to keep it all to myself anymore. I'm glad it's Richie that knows, he's always the best at comforting me and making me feel happy even at the worst of times.
I slowly stop crying and release his shirt, instead I wrap my arms around his waist and hold him closer to me, not wanting to let go.
"Are you okay?" Richie softly asks me.
"Yeah." I reply in a quiet voice while moving my head to the side so that he can hear me. "Thanks Richie. I really appreciate you caring so much about me." I say smiling up at him, he's already looking down at me with a soft smile.
"Anytime Spaghetti. You are my number one priority." he says in a cheery voice. "I'm sorry your mum is so horrible to you, but I will do everything that I can to help you get away from her." he says in a more serious tone. "You don't deserve to be treated badly, and don't worry I'll make sure that we'll stay together and that we won't be separated even for a second!"
Hearing him say that makes me smile even wider and my heart start to race. I do wish that I had a mother that did care about me but at least I got Richie who does genuinely care about me. He's always there for me which I truly appreciate and love about him.
I snuggle up more into Richie so that I'm basically lying on top of him, he lies back on the sofa keeping me in his arms and we stay like that. Happy being in each others company more than anything else.
