Two Idiots In Love - Reddie

Chapter 20

Eddie's POV

I slowly open my eyes and see that I'm still in Richie's embrace, I move my head back a bit and look up at him. I'm so glad that he came with me, I don't think I could've handled all this without him.

I stare up at Richie, getting lost in all of his beautiful features.

A few minutes pass by when Richie moves his head a bit and his eyes slowly open and lock onto mine.

"Morning Eds." he says with a soft smile.

"Morning Rich." I reply with a smile of my own.

He reaches over me and grabs his glasses off the bedside table, putting them on and facing me once again. My cheeks feel like they are on fire, Richie reaching over me threw me off guard for a second and I didn't hear what he said while doing so.

"You been up long?" he asked sounding amused from how flustered I just got.

"No, only a few minutes." I respond, pulling myself together.  "What time is it?"

"It's 9 am" Richie says looking at the clock on the wall behind me. "Do you want to go to the bathroom first, so that we're ready for when my mum gets here?"

"Yes." I say while climbing out of bed and walking to the bathroom.

When I'm done, Richie goes in to sort himself out while I sit on my bed and think about yesterday.

I'm so caught up in my thoughts that I don't notice Richie walk out of the bathroom and sit next to me.

I'm finally brought out of my thoughts when I feel a hand on my shoulder, I look next to me and see Richie sitting there with a concerned look on his face.

"How are you feeling?" he asks me not moving his hand from my shoulder.

"Not great, I've had time to process everything now and I do feel a bit sad that my mum is dead." I say thinking about my words carefully. "She was my mum, the one that raised me all these years. But it's only a bit because, she's also the one that equally caused me a lot of pain." I say looking down at my lap.

Richie's arm fully wraps around me as he pulls me into him. I rest my head on his chest and feel relived now that I've figured out my feelings.

We stay sitting like that for quite a while when all of a sudden we hear someone knock at the door.

We both get up and go over to the door, Richie opens it, revealing Maggie who's standing on the other side.

"Morning boys!" she says with a smile. We both return a smile while saying morning to her. "Do you want to go grab some breakfast before we start the long drive home?"

"Yes! I'm starving!" Richie loudly says, dragging out his words. Me and Maggie both laugh at him as I turn around and grab the room key off the table.

Time skip to breakfast

When we've all finished our breakfasts, Maggie says that she wants to talk to us before we leave.

"Alright, so yesterday just before we left the station, the policeman and I had a little chat about what would happen to you." she says looking at me.

Me and Richie both share a worried look to each other before turning our attention back to Maggie.

"What I suggested was that you could come and live with us." she says with a smile, which immediately brings a smile to my face. "We can put another bed in Richie's room and you two can share seeing as your best friends, but it's 100% your decision." she finishes, putting her hands on the table to see what my answer will be.

"Yes! I'd love that! Thank you so much Maggie!" I excitedly say with a huge smile on my face. I look to Richie to see what his reaction to all of this is and I'm met with the biggest smile on his face.

"Yes! Thanks Mum!" he says looking at Maggie then at me.

"Great, I'm glad the both of you are so happy about this. I just need to call and tell the policeman that you agreed to living with me." she says while getting up and asking to use the phone.

"I'm so excited that you're going to live with me!" Richie says beaming while leaning over to give me a hug.

"Me too!" I say with the same amount of enthusiasm as I return the hug.

We pull apart and start talking about how great living together is going to be.

About five minutes later Maggie comes back over to us, smiling at how excited we both are.

"Alright, are you both ready to start the car ride back home?" she asks to which we both nod our heads saying yes.

The entirety of the car ride we talk about what we'll have to do to get me sorted into living at their house.

We're going to go to my house first so that I can pack a bag of all my essentials that I can take to my new home. I'll have to share Richie's bed for the time being before we sort out moving all of the rest of my things, including my bed. But I don't mind sleeping in the same bed as Richie.

It's comforting having him so close to me and also it means that Richie is the first thing I see when waking up, which I love.

4 hours later

We arrive back in Derry and stop at my house. Me and Richie go in while Maggie stays in the car seeing as we won't be that long.

When I have my bag packed we go back downstairs and Richie goes out the front door to the car, with his bag with him.

I stop and look in the living room at the couch where my mum normally would be. It's weird that she's gone now. But her leaving has given me a chance at a better life. So I say one last goodbye to my mother and go out the front door, joining Richie in the back seat of the car.
