"Let's go home. My shift's over" Jin said, taking off his lab coat and hanging it in a locker.
"Ok, I'm gonna go say goodbye to Sophie," I said, walking out of the break room. I spotted her in the closet, putting medical supplies away.
"Hey E, heading out now?"
"Yeah, it's getting late. Jin's shift is over"
"See you next week then?"
"Yeah maybe"
"What do you mean?" She asked, tilting her head innocently.
"Who knows? I might be dead by then"
"What?" Her eyes widened.
"Rumor has it, I'm going to be killed within the week"
"Are you kidding? Em, that's not funny"
"I wanted to say goodbye to you before I left since you're my only friend," I said. She pulled me into a hug and we stayed hugging for a minute.
"I love you Em. If the rumors are wrong, please come back"
"I will. I love you too Soph"
We pulled away and gave each other one last look before I followed Jin out. We headed out to the car and drove home. The ride home was relatively silent. It was in the middle of the day, sunny and warm. This is the weather that is supposed to make me happy, not sad.
"Penny for your thoughts," Jin said, driving. He looked over at me staring out the window.
"I'm gonna die"
"Ugh worst penny I ever spent," he laughed, trying to lighten the mood. I smiled at him sadly, "let's listen to some music" he said.
He turned on the radio and started singing obnoxiously to a song, screaming at the top of his lungs. I started laughing hysterically at his silliness. "This is my favorite song. It's called Epiphany!" He yelled and started blasting the music, pulling down the windows. At least one person in the car was happy and having a good time.
After a few more songs, we pulled into the driveway where all the boys' cars were home. Except for Yoongi's totaled car.
We entered the house and all the boys were gathered in the living room, talking about something serious. They looked like they were coming up with some evil deed.
"What's going on?" Jin said, shutting the door behind me. Their expressions immediately went cold when they saw me. Something was wrong. Something happened.
None of them answered as they just stared at us. "Guys, what happened?" I asked.
"Em..." Hobi said. The three maknaes sat quietly on the couch looking at me with sad eyes like they expected me to fall apart at any minute. They didn't want to hear what Hoseok had to say next.
"Who died?" I asked coldheartedly and impatiently. Hoseok furrowed his eyes questionably at me.
"I know the look. I've seen it many times" I continued, "Everyone thinks they're the first person to tell someone bad news, but they're not. It's always the same look... so who died?... Who is dead?"
"Your uh... warehouse," Namjoon said, "Kwon's blew it up. Lost a lot of your men"
I wasn't surprised. Why would I be? I saw this coming from a mile away. I just didn't know it would be now.
Yoongi continued, "the Kwon's have officially declared war with the Fey's" Jimin nudged his arm, telling him to stop. The room went silent for a few seconds. All the boys were waiting for me to say something. My mind was running through a maze and unable to find its way out.
