Chapter 9

"What happened today, mija?"

"They know," Camila said as she looked down.

"They know?"

Camila nodded her head.

"Do you want to change schools?"

Camila looked up with wide eyes, "What? NO!" she exclaimed.

"I can deal with them."

"Can you?" he asked and Camila looked away.

"I'm just worried about you, mija," he said after a while.

"I know but papi, it's different now," Camila said as she looked at her father.

"I know I keep saying that but this time, I mean it," she paused, "There are people here who genuinely care about me. They've helped me."

"Okay, mija. Okay," Alejandro said to his daughter.

"And I won't tell your mother about this either."

"Thank you," Camila said as she hugged her father.

A few hours later, there was a knock on the door. Camila frowned. Her father had gone back to work and her mother was coming home late and Sofi wasn't supposed to be back yet. Camila walked down the stairs and opened the door, only to be tackled with a hug. She blinked in surprise. She pulled away.

"Dinah?" Camila turned back towards the door and saw Normani and Lauren entering the house.

"Lauren? Normani? What are you guys doing here?" Camila asked.

"I brought your homework," Dinah said.

"I brought chips and a movie," Normani said.

"I brought myself," Lauren said with a shrug.

Camila blinked in confusion.

"We're gonna do some homework and then we're gonna cheer you up," Normani said.

Camila looked at Lauren who just shrugged.

"I'd go with it, if I were you," she said.

"Okay then," Camila said as she shut the door. She led them to the living room and Dinah took out Camila's homework out and handed it to the girl. Camila and Lauren sat on the couch while Dinah and Normani sat on the floor. When they were halfway done, the door flew open and Sofi ran in with her dad behind her.

"Kaki!" Sofi said as she entered the room and saw the girls. Camila smiled.

"Hey Sofi, come here," Lauren said as she put her notepad away.

"Lolo!" Sofi exclaimed as she hugged the green eyed girl.

"Lolo?" Lauren asked as she looked at Camila as she hugged Sofi.

"I may have told her," Camila said sheepishly.

"What? No love for DMac?" Dinah asked. Sofi pulled away and hugged the tall Polynesian.

"I love you, Dinah!"

"Love you too, boo," Dinah said.

"Oh Sofi, this is Normani," Camila said.

Sofi pulled away and waved at the dark skinned girl.

"Hi Normani!"

"Hi Sofi. You're so cute!"

"Thank you," Sofi said shyly.

"Hi mija," Alejandro said as he walked in.

"Hi papi. Guys, this is my dad, Alejandro."
