Chapter 18: A Devils Tribute

Nighteye POV

~Journal Entry~

I took an intern recently. I still don't know if it was a mistake. It has been almost a week and so far I have no regrets. He has shown that he has the fortitude to become a hero, and he has shown incredible kindness. On his first patrol, he took down a man who was in a much bigger human trafficking program. The corporation was using kids and growing them into slavery. Thanks to 'Crimson Moonlight'; which is the intern's hero name, we got the information we needed to take them down and now all the kids are in recovery from the incident. All have lost their parents and are now orphans.

All except one. During the incident, the intern Kaito Izumrura had grown attached to one of the victims. It seems that she wasn't affected like the others and was able to keep much of her personality, which sadly can't be said for any of the others. Izumura took the liberty of adopting the young girl and is now in charge of raising her. I met her, she was very nice and now I wonder how being a parent, student, and a hero in training will affect him. He is interesting and I think he has grown on me.

I sighed and put the journal into my desk as I heard a knock on my door. "Come in." The door opened and Izumura entered. "Hello, Sir." I nodded and motioned for him to sit down. "Hello, Izumura. The week is almost up. I hope that you have something to show for your work here other than your daughter. By the way, where is she? She is normally with you, is she not." Izumura seemed to give me a small but happy smile. "You bet I do. As for Nozomu, I called my friend Shinso up since he had the week off as well and he wasn't doing internships, to watch her. BG gave me a ride to his place to drop her off this morning since I'm ready to show you what I can do."

I intertwined my fingers and laid my chin on them as I looked at him. "Are you sure you do not want the full week?" Izumura shook his head and smiled a bit more. "I was drawn here. I don't regret following my instinct when I choose this place. I met BG, Centipeder, Mirio, you, and my daughter. Now my instinct is telling me to show you what I can do." I gave a slight smile and stood up walking to the door. "Meet me in the basement two training fields." With that, I left the room. 

~Time Reverse Kaito POV~

Currently, BG was driving Nozomu and me to Shinso's house. "You did tell him why your coming. Right?" I laughed nervously. "KAITO!?" "Yeah~ no. I wanted it to be a surprise. After all, he has a niece. I wanted him to be surprised. Also, it's payback." I heard BG sigh and I looked down on my lap and saw Nozomu asleep. "She's so precious. I have no regrets taking her in." I smiled and kissed her on the forehead. "You better take care of that little bag of sunshine or so help me." I laughed. "I know Bubble Girl." I sweatdropped at how mad she can get for no reason but smiled when I looked down at my daughter.

When we got to Shinso's house I woke up Nozomu and got her out of the car. She hid behind my leg as we walked up to the door and I knocked. When Shinso opened the door he looked like he hadn't slept since I last saw him. "Hey, Kaito. What did you need." I smiled and shook my leg a little. "You can come out now." Nozomu crept out from behind my leg and Shinso bent down and scared her a little. "Who is this?" I bent down as well so all three of us were face level.

"This is Nozomu Izumura." I saw Shinso's eyes widen and blink a few times. "I thought you didn't have a sister." I gave a nervous laugh. "I don't. She isn't my sister." I saw Shinso give a smile. "You are dumb you know that." "I've been getting that a lot." Shinso laughed and stood up and motioned for us to follow. I picked up Nozomu and brought her inside and BG soon followed.

Shinso poured all of us some coffee and he poured Nozomu some hot chocolate. "So, how long have you had her?" I patted Nozomu's head and she gave a laugh that made everyone awe. "About a week now. I was on patrol with Mirio and we were on the lookout for a guy and we found him. Apparently, he was part of a much bigger human trafficking operation and thanks to taking the guy down the pros were able to take down the organization. When I took down the guy I found Nozomu. Unlike the others, she still had her personality and since her parents were gone I took her in."
